We expect officers to have more discretion than Wagoner and Garrett displayed in harassing someone during a traffic stop just because of that person's dress. That is something all towns, large and small, should make clear to their officers before they ever receive a badge, not only because it's wrong, but because harassment opens towns to lawsuits. A press Conference is being held to talk about a campaign to convince Sen. Gordon Smith to defund the Iraq war. He has called the war "absurd" and "criminal" and yet he will not walk his talk.
2 people were arrested this evening at Gordon Smith's office. The two were charged with trespass. This was the fourth arrest to have taken place in Smith's office in the past two weeks. The folks arrested are citizens who want Smith to stand up and stop the funding for the war.
The problems facing America today are many, but they can be solved with a President that has the best interests of all Americans at heart. Too many politicians are tied to corporate interests, depending on these vested interests to finance their campaign, which adversely affects the Politician's stance on issues. From ending the war in Iraq, to providing Universal Health Care, Dennis Kucinich's platform is based on what is good for the people, not the corporations.

A small group of members from Democracy for America Miami and Miami Veterans for Peace have come up with a novel approach to broadcasting a message to end the occupation of Iraq: an aerial banner that reads, "Bring Our Troops Home Now". These two groups decided to first try their idea at this year's Super Bowl in Miami, but bad weather prevented the plane from taking off. Now the organizers have turned their attention to this Sunday's Grammy Awards, which will be in Los Angeles. A plane has been leased to fly the same message over the Staples Center where the Grammys are taking place.
