There can only be one explanation for the grimaces on the faces of Cheney and Rice as they listen to the State of the Union Address--they are either trying to "out serious" the Democrats (Nancy Pelosi must have to pee real bad, cus she keeps squirming in her seat) or they are sponsoring diarrhea medicine for big pharmaceutical companies.

Only Impeachment Can Prevent More War
Bush is correct that it will work--indeed, the surge is working. We have to be clear about how the plan works. It does not mean that 21,500 more US troops will bring order and stability to Iraq. The surge is working, because it is deflecting attention from the Bush Regime's real game plan.

The real game plan is to orchestrate a war with Iran and to initiate wider conflict in the Middle East before public and military pressure forces the Bush Regime to withdraw US troops from Iraq.

DEATH OF THE WILLIE LYNCH SPEECH
Since 1995 there has been much attention given to a speech claimed to be delivered by a "William Lynch" in 1712. This speech has been promoted widely throughout African American and Black British circles. It is re-printed on numerous websites, discussed in chat rooms, forwarded as a "did you know" email to friends and family members, assigned as required readings in college and high school courses, promoted at conferences, and there are several books published with the title of "Willie Lynch."[1] In addition, new terminology called the "Willie Lynch Syndrome" has been devised to explain the psychological problems and the disunity among Black people.

Repression in Denmark
I recieved the following two documents from a Danish friend and fellow worker about a month ago. She has been involved in a Danish group that supports revolutionary groups around the world. These include the PFLP, a Palestinian group with a secular, socialist, and revolutionary agenda. The PFLP was in the news recently when it helped broker a cease-fire between Hamas and Fatah, the two main Islamist Palestinian parties. On the other hand, they also support the FARC of Columbia, a "revolutionary" group for whom I have no respect whatsoever.
The following two documents show increasing repression of international solidarity with teeth, global support for those whose governments have turned against them. It should worry anyone who's ever sent money to the Zapatistas, for instance.
The first document is a declaration officially promulgated near the end of last year, while the second details the history of the Danish group "Rebellion," (Opror) which has been the main victim of this government crackdown on solidarity campaigns. While no specific action has been suggested, it is important to know the shape and tactics of the struggle for justice, wherever it is taking place. My friend who sent this to me seemed very concerend abou the escalating nature of the crackdown on their activities.
She wrote in part:
"In denmark we are fighting for the right to rebel against any occupation or repressive power. And for the right to support freedom-fighters financially and politically. Right now our spokesman is accused of violating the Danish anti-terror legislation."

Please give some thought to the future these important documents, and check out the Opror website to see what you can do to help (it may be in Danish, though).

In solidarity,
FW Joseph

Why capitalists support the war
To put it simply, they want to maximize their profits at the expense of the vast majority. This requires access to raw materials, markets, and cheap labor, not to mention juicy government contracts with built-in profits. But don't take our word for it. Here's what the representatives and defenders of U.S. capitalism have had to say about it over the years:

"War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses...

"It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism."

- USMC General Smedley Butler, 1933
