STUDY: Richest 1% ($500,000+ in assets, only 37M people) own 40% world; top 2% own 50%+
A new study on The World Distribution of Household Wealth by the World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) was released on Tuesday 5 December 2006. --- Among other points, it reveals stark data on geopolitical stratification --- Richest 1% ($500,000+ in assets, only 37M people! in a world of 6 billion plus!) own 40% world wealth; Richest 2% ($61,000 in assets) own 50%+); richest 10% ($2,200 in assets) own 85%!; world Gini ratio as huge 89%! --- Wealth is heavily concentrated in North America, Europe, and high income Asia-Pacific countries. People in these few countries collectively hold almost 90% of total world wealth. --- Bottom half of the world adult population owned barely 1% of global wealth. --- Japan and the U.S., are about it in the present unsustainable world: according to the study, almost all of the world's richest individuals live in North America, Europe, and rich Asia-Pacific countries. Each of these groups of countries contribute about one third of the members of the world's wealthiest 10%. A small number of countries account for most of the wealthiest 10% in the world. One-quarter are Americans and another 20% are Japanese. [i.e., almost half of the **top 10%** worldwide are only in two countries, the U.S. and Japan] These two countries feature **even more strongly among the richest 1%** of individuals in the world, with 37% residing in the USA and 27% in Japan. [i.e., 64% of the top "World 1% Club" (37 million people) in only two countries), though Japan's Gini is less extreme than the U.S.'s.

Understanding Bush’s “Surge” Strategy for 2007: A Second Civil War or Genocide
After all the study groups and reports, an electoral repudiation, months of deliberation and hundreds of thousands dead, the Bush administration Iraq policy debate boils down to this: choosing between genocide against Sunni Arabs - a strategy known as the "80 percent solution" - or fomenting a second civil war, this one a Shia-on-Shia death match. Or perhaps both.

Bush Must Go, Only Impeachment Can Stop Him - "War on Terror" is BS!
When are the American people and their representatives in Congress and the military going to wake up and realize that the US has an insane war criminal in the White House who is destroying all chances for peace in the world and establishing a police state in the US?

Americans don't have much time to realize this and to act before it is too late. Bush's "surge" speech last Wednesday night makes it completely clear that his real purpose is to start wars with Iran and Syria before failure in Iraq brings an end to the neoconservative/Israeli plan to establish hegemony over the Middle East.

For a short while, in the mid 60's and 70's, Blacks made some social and racial gains, however today many Blacks are wasting away their lives in American prisons due to the unjust practice of the Three Strikes Laws.

Government Found Guilty of Martin Luther King Murder in Federal Court - 12/8/99
Undisclosed conspirators for the governments of the United States, the State of Tennessee, and the City of Memphis were found liable for the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr. on December 8, 1999, in a federal circuit court. The federal government never appealed the decision. The mainstream media in the U.S. never covered the assassination conspiracy verdict, even though the implications of the story were greater than Watergate. The family requested a subsequent independent investigation to be set up by President Bill Clinton (who has since established office in Harlem), but he refused the request.

Bush Challenges Opposition -- A Response!
In his daily radio address, George W Bush challenged those who oppose his insane route to oblivion, to 'put up or shut up'. America’s Other War Is Mounting Casualties, too!
Essentially, a fire kills a Chicago family, which on the surface appears to be an accidental tragedy. However, closer scrutiny of the circumstances that led to this fire suggests this is more a case of wholesale murder resulting from skewed economic and political polices that put the profit imperatives of enormous corporations above the dire needs of millions of working Americans.
Moreover, my piece illustrates how this social crisis is playing out across America, everyday, as millions (like me) decide which necessity they can best live without. Sometimes this gamble costs them their lives, while a small layer of wealth continue to amass enormously huge fortunes; they'll never spend in 50 lifetimes.
Having been a former homeless parent, with two young children in tow in 1991, through no fault of my own, I'm painfully conscious of the Ramirez family's struggles before they died. Like them, I was a hardworking with nothing to show. Now I'm angry and outraged, realizing it may take a paradigm shift, nationwide; to make people understand they could be America's next domestic casualty.
Further, despite the sweeping reviews that followed elections across this nation in November 2006, my optimism remains cautiously guarded, since the ideological differences between the two party systems is all but indistinguishable from where I sit.
In closing, frankly, with so much corporate and political collusion and the unending corruption this has led to, at the highest levels of authority, our government harbors more the earmarks of a criminal cartel rather than an enterprise that promotes social equality, justice and peace. Lara DeLuz

An "I told you so" to Portland City Council...
Submitted by Styve on Thu, 2007-01-11 04:26. Portland, OR

We were hoping for big demonstrations here, and Thursday night saw over 600 people converge on Pioneer Square, to send a message to Congress that this is madness...to be following a madman's dictates on how to "win" an occupation?!?! How goddam Orwellian can we get?!?!

Bush is gone in six months...mark my words!! He will either have a bunker moment and bump himself off, or his father will do it for him...

I remember an old camp anecdote about a letter from a son to his Dad, and the ending line was, "...so sad, too bad...your Dad!!" Never thought I would revisit that...life is weird!

American Congress: Failed Institution
Democrats have failed the American people (and civilised world) by allowing the lunatic U.S. President to re-introduce nuclear warfare in an already unstable world. Two extremely disturbing indications from Bush's 'new strategy' spell madness in the clearest possible terms but the Democrats have made it clear, they will adopt the role of spectator, satisfying themselves with an 'I told you so' attitude AFTER the calamitous event. The non-interventionist attitude of the Democrats confirms INCOMPETENCE as a malaise that extends throughout the entire body of government in the USA. Any government that would plunge the world into a future holocaust earns for itself the status of nuclear target - where does it end? The only two nations likely to utilise nuclear weapons today are Israel and the United States, as has clearly been indicated by Bush and his echo, Condoleezza Rice, in their recent address:
