United States bombing of Somali village
A US air strike on a Somali village, thought to be the hideout of an al-Qaida cell, has left "many dead", reports said today.
The attack yesterday, by a heavily armed gunship, allegedly targeted Islamic radicals wanted for the 1998 bombings of US embassies in other African countries.

This Road is for Jews Only
Yes, There is Apartheid in Israel

Jewish self-righteousness is taken for granted among ourselves to such an extent that we fail to see what's right in front of our eyes. It's simply inconceivable that the ultimate victims, the Jews, can carry out evil deeds. Nevertheless, the state of Israel practises its own, quite violent, form of Apartheid with the native Palestinian population.

Bush’s War Heating Up—Attack on Iran Imminent
Most Americans believe that Bush's Iraqi misadventure is over. The occupation has lost the support of the electorate, the Congress, the generals and the troops. The Democrats are sitting back waiting for Bush to come to terms with reality. They don't want to be accused of losing the war by forcing Bush out of Iraq. There are no more troops to commit, and when the "surge" fails, Bush will have no recourse but to withdraw. A little longer, everyone figures, and the senseless killing will be over.

Democrats criticize Iraq “surge”, but won’t cut war funds
The two top congressional Democratic leaders have publicly opposed the Bush administration's plans to dispatch more troops to Iraq, while signaling to the White House that there will be no serious effort to prevent an escalation of the slaughter as the bloodbath in Iraq heads towards its fifth year.

The two-faced character of the Democratic posture is the product of their need to speak to two audiences at the same time: the American voters, largely working class and middle class, who voted for Democratic candidates last November 7 to express their opposition to the war; and the American ruling elite, whose social and economic interests, within the US and worldwide, the Democratic Party is committed to defend.

Waving the flags and talking about we're all one didn't change any of that. That agenda of the destruction of the black community is still in place by those operatives that they represent. FORMER AWOL SOLDIER TO SPEAK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE IN IRAQ THIS FRIDAY IN PORTLAND!
In the context of increasing troop resistance to the war both on the ground in Iraq and on military bases at home, as well as growing public discontent with the Bush administration's handling of the war, it is a vital time for returning vets to share their experiences. As the death toll for both American troops and Iraq civilians climbs, and each month is labeled the "deadliest" since the March 2003 invasion, returning vets have an increasingly important perspective to give on the urgency of changing policy in Iraq.

Israel leaks it’s plan to nuke Iran
A report in yesterday's London-based Sunday Times revealed that the Israeli military has been training to use tactical nuclear weapons against Iran's uranium enrichment plant at Natanz and other nuclear facilities. Based on several Israeli military sources, the article said two air force squadrons were involved, with the preparations being overseen by air force commander Major General Eliezer Shkedi.

Israeli officials were quick to disparage the report. Foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev "formally denied" the claim and restated the official stance that Israeli was committed to a diplomatic solution and supported last month's UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on Iran. Top government and military figures have repeatedly warned, however, that Israel would not allow Tehran to develop nuclear weapons.

Abandoning Hypocrisy Canada's foreign policy and Afghanistan
Canadian foreign policy used to be based on hypocrisy. Canada's leaders have always seen themselves, and presented themselves, as men of the West, involved in the wars the West was involved in, including colonial wars. But Canada has also tried to present itself as a country without a colonial history, an honest broker and peacekeeper that has, and deserves, the trust of the world....In 1993, the Canadian Airborne Regiment was sent to Somalia. Here, too, Canada went with the US. The US was there to "Restore Hope", and killed several hundred (or was it several thousand) Somalis in the process, before leaving ignominiously. Canada went along to support the mission....

Homelessness Is Everyone's Affair Not Just For The Efforts Of A Few
My first full realization of homelessness hit as I was waking up shivering one cold, damp and foggy November morning in 1991. The pain in my lower back was excruciating not to mention the numbness in my legs and feet. I was attempting to raise myself to a seated position in response to pleas from my two little daughters crying out, "Mommy, I'm hungry," and, "Will we find a house today?" I'm not sure which pain paralyzed me more, the pain that immobilized my lower body from lying in a contorted position all night long, with one eye open (being too afraid to sleep), or the pain and fear that gripped my heart as I looked into the eyes of the most precious things in this world to me, my two innocent little daughters. How do you explain to a child (let alone two of them), they are homeless? Furthermore, how do you get them to understand that mommy doesn't know when we'll have a home again, because we are broke; and, every shelter in town is full.
