Photos - Prepare the glasses… The death of Pinochet
Gen. Pinochet, who overthrew Chile's democratically elected president in a bloody coup and ruled this Andean nation for 17 years, died Sunday, Santiago, Chile, Dec. 10, 2006, dashing hopes of victims of his regime's abuses that he would be brought to justice. He was 91. Pinochet suffered a heart attack a week ago and underwent an angioplasty, and the brief announcement by the Santiago Military hospital said his condition worsened suddenly on Sunday. Dr. Juan Ignacio Vergara, spokesman for the medical team that had been treating him, said his family was with him when he died.

the Pig Watcher 11.12.2006 00:50
LoAngPiggies just as bad as our PoPiggies
Surprisingly, the MSM reported this story about a nutjob of a cop--this time a LAPD Pig--that got caught on film abusing his power...and, lo and behold, he lost his job for it. We have to hand it to LAPD Chief Bratton for his
courage in standing up to the Blue Wall and firing this
cop's ass! If only our Tom Potter had the same level of
courage to stand up to PPA, we too would find a lot of our
PoPiggies that don't belong in the pack being fired too!

The key feature to take away from this report is the fact
that what gave Bratton the "courage" to stand up and do
the right thing, was that the department was still reeling
from fallout from two recent and highly public videotapes
that showed LoAngPiggies using excessive force against
fellow-citizens that were taken by amateurs on the street.

The message from this is if we here want to stop PoPiggie
abuse, then we need to have camera ready and snap away
everytime we witness a police encounter, for we never know
whether it will quickly turn into a stomping orgy like the
one that killed James Chasse or something that easily is
explained. Put the onus on the PoPiggies to justify their
use of force and the only way is to capture them on film.

Fascism, in this day and age, seems a rather nebulous concept. I can't count how many times I have asked someone to define fascism only to draw a blank stare or an amibiguous collection of rants against the Anglo-American power structure that, while often true, do little to define fascism.

NSTA
A National debate that began to challenge Big Oil's infiltration of public education. This story is big. Don't let it die. "The scandal at the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) just keeps getting worse.
Since the Washington Post published an op-ed I wrote asking if NSTA's puzzling decision to reject 50,000 free DVDs of Al Gore's global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth might - just might - have had anything to do with more than six million dollars the organization has accepted from ExxonMobil, Shell Oil, ConocoPhillips and the American Petroleum Institute, the muck keeps piling up." Laurie David "
"In fact, Gerry Wheeler (Executive Director of NSTA) himself is listed as executive producer of the film series, alongside a ConocoPhillips corporate PR man named Ron Stanley. His interest in cinema apparently didn't extend to An Inconvenient Truth, however. At least not until it landed him in the paper."

"Wheeler says this is OK because NSTA had editorial control of the project. If that's true, then maybe he can explain why the only scientist cited in the largely dismissive global warming section appearing in chapters six, nine and ten of the teaching guides is Dr. Robert Balling - a well known global warming skeptic who has acknowledged taking more than $400,000 from the fossil fuel industry (others say the figure is higher)."

71% of U.S. disapprove of Bush handling of Iraq in AP-Ipsos poll, Bush stays clueless...
Just a little more to show you aren't alone and that a huge majority disapproves of Bush re Iraq... "More Americans than ever say President [sic] Bush is doing a pitiful job with the war, and an almost equally overwhelming number of people think Iraq won't turn out to be a stable democracy, a new poll showed Friday. A whopping 71 percent of Americans disapprove of Bush's handling of the war, while only 27 percent say he's done a good job, according to the AP-Ipsos poll. The hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and the thousands of dead and maimed U.S. soldiers were unavailable for comment.

"Some lawmakers who spent time in meetings Friday with Bush described him as being in denial and clueless about the American people's desire to see U.S. forces return home from Iraq. "He has yet to get the message the American people sent him on Nov. 7," said Rep. Joe Crowley, D-New York, referring to the watershed midterm elections that ended GOP control of Congress. However, Pelosi foolishly thinks that putting her little pinky finger in the dike will keep out 71% of the U.S. wanting a complete policy change to bring the troops home from a huge lie.

Liberal Consensus Hardens for More Troops to Iraq
Here's comes Rep Silvestre Reyes of Texas, handpicked by Nancy Pelosi to head the House Intelligence Committee and he's calling for 20,000 more U.S. troops to be sent to Iraq. Reyes says they're needed to crush the Shi'a and Sunni militias. Didn't I tell to you right here, after the Nov 7 "peace moment" the polls, that the Democrats would fall into line behind Senator John McCain? The minute Jack Murtha made his run for House Majority leader the liberal establishment began to take a stand against all seditious talk of "immediate redeployment". You can scarcely open up the New York Times without tripping over a piece by Michael Gordon reporting yet another thoughtful military man--he put up General Zinni in this capacity last week--saying that the prudent short-term course would be to send more troops to Iraq.

Neo-Cons in Disarray
Washington today is characterised by neo-cons running for cover as reality presses in on their delusional world. It's every psychopath and criminal for him/herself as uncertainty grips the culpable. Neo-cons and their support networks are abandoning the new American century (delusion) for the hard reality of rapid American decline and the very real prospect of facing war crimes tribunals. The recent utterings of arch-neocon, Richard Perle, attempting to lay blame on the imbecile, Bush, reveals panic at the highest levels; but it's far too late to evade responsibility, the world is very familiar with the criminal perpetrators of the whole neo-con fiasco.

Efforts to initiate the impeachment of President George W. Bush
Since President George W. Bush took office in 2001, numerous local governments, party organizations, and members of Congress have called for impeachment proceedings against both him and members of his administration. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) introduced a resolution late in 2005 calling for a special committee to investigate a variety of allegations against Bush and possibly make a recommendation for impeachment to the House. Statements by both Conyers, and Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), however, have indicated that neither plans to pursue impeachment in the 110th Congress. Nonetheless, numerous state and local governments and party organizations have considered and passed resolutions addressing the impeachment of Bush and other members of the administration over the past several years. This page covers these efforts, as well as congressional action related to the matter.
