Pizza Time workers presented a list of demands to Shane Bloking, the new owner of the Olympia Pizza Time at Old Town, after a week of mismanagement, bad judgment and the firing of two competent employees. Shane Bloking deteriorated product quality, employee morale and refused to agree to the workers demands presented to him on saturday the night of February 12, 2005. Olympia Pizza Time workers were forced to go on strike to get all demands met.

Portland Man to be Sentenced Tuesday for Smokestack Banner in Pennsylvania

Off-duty Portland Police Officer accused of raping prostitutes
I work at a cafe on lower east Burnside and... one of the Prostitutes that comes by every now and then told me that she was picked up by a Portland Police Officer and raped then tossed two dollars and given tips on how to tell weather or not the "john" is a cop or not, and left her out on GermanTown Rd. She and at least two other Prostitutes that have been picked up by said officer are now pressing charges, they have DNA evidence. I was told that the city tried to settle out of court for $15,000.00, but the women attacked are going through with a court case and want to see the attacking officer to jail. I was told that these attacks took place in the Saint John's area. I will be posting more as I find out the details.

Portlanders rally downtown to demand immediate cessation of logging in The Biscuit
About 40 protesters came out for the noon protest rally at the US Forest Service bldg. The morning fog had lifted, but the dry air was quite cold. We created our own warmth with our energy directed against logging of old growth timber in the Siskiyou's. Among the sign carriers were several mask wearers, an owl face and a Mardigras one. Others chalked graffiti at the building's entrance.

A Funny Thing Happened on Jury Duty
The first trial was for a man accused of selling crack - second offense - and carrying a gun. During that jury selection the Judge asked if anyone believed drug enforcement laws were too harsh or not harsh enough. I raised my hand and explained that I felt it is wrong that we have our prisons 75% full of drug addicts when there are so many corporate criminals who are given a slap on the wrist after stealing hundreds of millions of dollars. The judge said "Alright Mr. Burbeck, you are excused".

Selma, Oregon: Report-back from rally to save the Wild Siskiyous
The rally to save the Wild Siskiyou's was held yesterday just outside Selma Oregon. The Rally drew car pools of forest supporter's and defenders from the Siskiyou's area, Ashland, Eugene, and Portland. The Rally had a diverse group of folk's, cool music, dancing trees and salmon, and inspiring speakers. In the background was the wild and endangered Siskiyou National Forest. The rally gave a feeling of empowerment and awareness of what is at stake if we don't act now. It served as a call to action to preserve this wild, beautiful and brilliant national forest. It ended by providing everyone a way in which they could plug into various actions to save a unique and completely wild national forest from taming.
