Something Stinks in Sandy (Again)
Another corrupt Clackamas County Deputy is allowed to resign, amid allegations of professional misconduct. Clackamas County DA and CCSO sweep it under the rug, as usual. Meanwhile, not a word - nay, nary even a mention - of Sandy PD's own Bill Bergin and his involvement in the whole sordid affair. Business as usual up here on the mountain.

*SCAM ALERT!!* Predatory Company Operating on PDX Craigslist and Other Free Classifieds
*SCAM WARNING!!* Rental-Data Bureau's (aka RDB, rental-data.com) Predatory Practices

If you are seeking rental property in the Portland Metro area you may have run across their NUMEROUS "Call RDB" house listing ads online. The ads often list enticingly low prices in attractive areas, yet NEVER offer an address or a photo.

Avoid these people and their dubious 'service' like the plague on free society they are. They republish a database of freely obtained house listings from off the net and charge RENTERS $35 to see their substandard imageless database. They illegitimately spam the free classified sites with their 'listings' which are in reality only ads for their website 'service'. They use phony bait and switch tactics by listing enticing properties in their ads that do not exist in the database once you become a member.

support Eco Political Prisoner Grant Barnes
Grant is currently serving a 12 year sentence for ELF related actions. Please take a moment to write him a letter and show this Brother he is nor forgotten.
In a recent letter from Eco Political Prisoner Grant Barnes he made a few requests. He says in part "Challenging reading material is hard to get here but More then anything I enjoy correspondence.... please feel free to pass my address around." I get the impression from his letters that mail for him is pretty hit or miss. It would do a lot to lift his spirits if folks would write him. For more info on Grant Barnes see www.ecoprisoners.org .

Grants received books from books to prisoners groups in the past and has gotten zines from South Chicago ABC as well but hasn't gotten anything in a couple months.

Self Determination & Community Rights Defense In Oaxaca & Beyond
Simón Sedillo is a community based human rights film-maker whose work has centered on placing skills, cameras and editing equipment in the hands of communities in resistance so that they may be able to document their own histories and human rights situation. Sedillo has spent the last 6 years documenting and teaching community based video documentation in indigenous communities in Oaxaca, in immigrant communities in the US, and with youth of color across the US.

Today Sedillo shares some experiences and perspective for international audiences in the US and Europe, on the local and global implications of the Oaxacan people's struggle. Through lectures, workshops, and screenings Sedillo helps open a powerful space for dialogue on the effects of neoliberalism on indigenous communities in Oaxaca, immigrant communities around the world, and communities of color in the US. Through collaborative media projects, Sedillo's work has contributed to a growing network of community based media activism whose primary objective is to share, teach, and learn from one another, about popular community based resistance and the collective construction of horizontal networks of popular power.

Sedillo is currently on tour screening short film segments from oaxaca and presenting workshops on the following topics.

-Neoliberalism 101
-From Militarism to Paramilitarism
-Mesoamerican Indigenous Principles of Unity and Resistance
-Challenging International Solidarity: Alternative Media, Human Right's, and Self-determination
-The commodification of sustainability and resistance
-The Fight for Community Rights

There will be a rally at the WA State Capitol on Monday, Oct. 6 to urge Washington Governor Chris Gregoire to direct her agencies to reject the Bradwood LNG terminal and pipeline. Update and Letter from Eric McDavid
Update on Eric's situation in Victorville, and a letter from Eric
Dear friends,

Our apologies for taking so long to get this to you...

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who helped us with the tour during the past month. It was an amazing success, and it would not have been possible without all of your support. Finally getting to meet so many folks who have been working for Eric these past few years was inspiring and rejuvenating in more ways than you know. Our deepest, most heartfelt thanks to all of you.

For those of you who don't already know, we learned earlier this month that Eric received an "infraction" for "unpermitted contact with the media." This apparently stems from a phone call Eric made to his family's home during which he spoke with a journalist who was at the house. Leaving aside the inherent absurdity of the charge itself, the ramifications for Eric have been quite real. His phone and email access were immediately cut off, leaving him with no real ties to the outside world other than letters (which can sometimes take weeks to reach their destination) and visits. This has been difficult for him and his loved ones, to say the least. Unfortunately, he will be without phone and email indefinitely. It could take weeks for the issue to be resolved, and even afterwards there is no guarantee that he will regain access to either of these "privileges." We will keep you updated as things progress.

It has recently come to our attention that FBI Informant and cooperating defendant in the Mideast Green Scare cases Frank "The Fink" Ambrose is attempting to contact current and former activists. If you receive any communication from Frank you should assume it is coming directly from the FBI.

If he calls you tell him to never call you again and hang up. Do not respond to or repeat any claims he makes or information he might be claiming to pass along.

Fred Meyer and Hate-Mongering in the Oregonian
Here is the email I just sent Fred Meyer: You heavily advertise in the Oregonian, a Portland daily paper. On 9-28-08, the publisher of the Oregonian distributed with the paper a DVD titled 'Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West.' This DVD is generally regarded to be a bigoted and untruthful piece of hate-mongering, designed to inflame public opinion against Muslims world-wide. Less that a week after this disk was distributed in Dayton, Ohio, unknown persons attacked an Islamic community center by releasing noxious vapors, burning to the eyes and nose, into the child care room.

Saturday September 20th - Raise Your Voice... No More Foie Gras!

This Saturday, join fellow activists in the resistance against Foie Gras. The night will be a tour through the cruelty of the Pearl District, as there will be two targets- Fenouil and Blue Hour

In case you haven't heard, the campaign to eliminate Foie Gras in Portland is heating up! Every Saturday, and many other days during the week, activists gather outside Bluehour to educate the public about foie gras and to protest business partners Kenny Giambalvo (yes that's Kenny G.) and Bruce Carey for the culinary cruelty they promote at their Pearl District restaurant. With the truth at their doorstep, the duo still refuse to make the ethical decision to remove foie gras from their blood-soaked menu... and the activists, armed with compassion, refuse to give up on the truth. Even recently, a group of autonomous individuals stink bombed the dining room in protest of Bluehour's support of animal cruelty ( link to portland.indymedia.org).

Olympia, WA: Rowdy Critical Mass Turns Into Arrest
The ride started out on Red Square at the Evergreen State College at 5:00pm with many people joining in along the way. The mass shouted and cheered as they drove by, feeling the power they shared together. Many people were vocally opposed to the existence of cars and shouted insults and other words of anger at SUV's and expensive looking cars for the poison they spew and the lives they take. When the yuppies yelled back, some even pretended to shoot them.
