The NeoLiberal Adgenda....Wake Up Cascadians
I was reading parts of Mike Ruppert's "Crossing the Rubicon" and wanted to post this nice little paragraph about Mr Al Gore's involvement in the rape and pillage of the former Soviet empire. Before reading remember that Clinton and Al Gore and most Democrats adn Republicans are not "liberal" or "conservative", but are NeoLiberal (wiki definition below of NeoLiberal). Some have speculated that the real goal of the elite and their paid puppet politicians are to create debt, both national and private, so as to push an economic collapse greater than the Great Depression while before their companies reinvest in China, UAE (Halliburton just moved there) and other potential safe economic holdouts. Then after the economic crash these Corporatists will buy out your property, because most people would rather eat than own property if there is mass starvation. Their goal is to create NeoFeudalism and we are to be the serfs while the corporate elite (fascists) are the new nobility. Here is an example of the all humanitarian Democrat when they are in positions of power:

"Though the seeds had been planted by the outgoing first Bush administration, the US assistance program to facilitate Russia's transition to capitalism took off under the new Clinton administration in 1993. A task force headed by Vice President Al Gore, Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbot and involving exclusive US Treasury contracts with Goldman Sachs, the Harvard Institute for International Development, the IMF, and the World Bank worked in partnership with the government of Boris Yeltsin to remake the Russian economy. What happened was that Russia, in the words of Yeltsin himself, became a "mafiocracy" and was looted of more than $500 billion in assets; its economy was ruined, its currency destroyed, its population rendered desperate, and its ability to support a world-class military establishment smashed."

82nd Ave Big Box Store Permit Off Hold; Rally Scheduled Aug 7th
Leaders of the Save Madison South and Save Roseway coalitions in NE Portland are now calling upon their 900+ member-strong support base to turn out for one of Portland's biggest National Night Out celebrations ever.

The National Night Out event, sponsored by both the Madison South and Roseway Neighborhood Associations, is taking place Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 6:30-8:30pm at Glenhaven Park (NE 82nd and Siskiyou) as a celebration of neighborhood livability.

However, with the permit application coming off hold for a proposed "big box store" development in the neighborhood, many residents are planning on attending the neighborhood event as a rally of support. The rally will be the official kick-off the fight against what could likely be Portland's newest Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The application for this proposed project came off hold this week on July 31st, and the land-use hearing date has been scheduled for 9am on October 1 and 3, 2007 at the City of Portland's Bureau of Development Services Room 2500-A [second floor], located at 1900 SW Fourth Avenue. Hundreds of residents are expected to pack the room to testify at the hearing.

The site in question is located on the now-vacant land (former golf driving range) across from Madison High School on NE 82nd. The developer so far has refused to publicly identify their tenant; however Canadian-based SmartCentre's website (www.smartcentres.com) proudly touts their strong relationship with Wal-Mart, with approximately 120 out of their 180 projects ending up being a Wal-Mart.

LONE VET REPORT
In the last few weeks I have been asked, in one form or another---why protest, why waste your time?

I want people to think about the occupation, even if only for a few minutes.
I want people to know how many have died or been seriously wounded this week
I want people to know how much this lunatic in the WH has cost us this week

Protests force people out of their cocoon to face ugly facts.
Protesting allows me to sleep at night---knowing I tried to stop this madness.
Protesting allows me to answer the question, "Did you speak up?"

The Constitution says:

Article 2, Section 4 "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

Shall means, you must do it----there is no mention of how many votes, media circus or not having the time to do what is mandated, it says in no uncertain terms----do your duty Mr. Congressman. Congressman Blumenauer is violating his oath of office every day that he will not call for the impeachment of Bush/Cheney and other civil officers of the United States.

See you on Thursday, August 2, at high noon.

Support Day Laborers! Counter Protest Anti Immigrant Bigots!!!
Anti immigrant folks in PDX this Wednesday! Counter Protest!!!

The city of Portland is finally getting on with plans to build a Day Labor Hiring site! Unfortunately reactionary right wing bigot groups are car pooling again up to Portland to condemn progressive actions and to spout their flimsy racist anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Come out to support the Day Labor Center and to denounce the anti-immigrant racist scapegoating! Mayor Tom Potter and community members plan to create a hire site for day laborers. Read about their plans in the Portland Tribune of July 24.

The hearing on the proposal will be in front of the Portland City Council, Wednesday, August 1, at 5:00 p.m. Call the city hall at (503) 823-4000 to be able to testify. Portland City Hall is located at 1221 SW 4th Ave (Jefferson and 4th)

There are no illegal men, women or children. Poverty, lack of health care, lack of job security, lack of prioritizing funding for children, privatization, neo-liberal economic polices, white supremacy and patriarchy...all of these things perpetuated by U.S. capitalist and imperialist policies are the real crimes.~ SIN FRONTERAS PORTLAND

Report back from Stumptown Earth First Action camp
Last weekend I attended the an Action Coast hosted by the newly formed Stumptown Earth First in the forest near Mt. Hood. The action camp took place from Thursday until Monday with a nearly 20 people in attendence through out the weekend. Trainings were given on climbing, knots, workshops covered wilderness first aid and medics, forest defense, Earth First history, Plant walks, and organizing meathods.

Besides the valuable skills and workshops the most exciting part of the camp came in the convergence of older EF'rs and a younger generation of forest defenders. The action camp brought old timers out of the woodwork and glimers of excitement to their eyes. The connection and transfer of experience and knowledge proved to be (for me) the most important part of the weekend and something that is desperately needed with all groups and aspects of a resistance movement.

The energy of young EF'rs combined with the excitement of an old generation displayed at the Stumptown Earth First Action camp appears to be a revitalizatin of direct action forest defense in Cascadia. As Stumptown Earth First grows it is bound to combine older experience coming back to the movement with new energy starting campaigns and getting stuff done. Keep your eyes out for future campaigns of Stumptown Earth First.

Anti-Racists Face Serious Legal Battle in Philly
On Monday July 23rd, four anti-fascists from the Philadelphia, PA area were arrested at what was supposed to be a Ku Klux Klan rally in Center City Philadelphia and charged with a series of trumped up misdemeanors in a situation that - for all practical purposes - was straight up entrapment.

Rumors spread through Philadelphia starting Friday July 20th that the Ku Klux Klan was supposed to show up for an 11AM rally on Monday at Love Park. While anti-fascists were present in the area starting at 10:30AM, no racists showed up for the rally until noon when two men wearing what appeared to be neo-Nazi t-shirts showed up in the area. Anti-fascists approached the men, confirmed they were neo-Nazis and told them to leave. Words were exchanged between the Klansmen and the anti-fascists, and then the neo-Nazis said they were leaving. The anti-fascists then followed behind them to make sure that they kept their promise.

Strangely, Civil Affairs cops remained on the other side of the park the entire time and made no efforts to follow the group even when they were out of their sight. The boneheads got into an SUV around the corner and were driven away. As they attempted to drive off, conveniently blocked by traffic, a verbal confrontation ensued with the anti-fascists lasting several minutes before a window of the SUV was smashed. The driver - who could have flashed his badge at anytime to disperse the crowd - then ordered four of the anti-fascists up against the wall.

Impeachment Demonstration at Blumenauers office
Were Blumenauer Operatives Behind Attempt to Silence Impeachment Protesters? Police were called out by security personnel in an attempt to intimidate and harass pro-impeachment demonstrators who were peacefully protesting Earl Blumenauer's refusal to honor his constituents' demand for the impeachment of the war criminals Dick Cheney and George Bush.... this time they were met by a "counter-demonstration" of sorts. The self-identified owner of the building and three security personnel, after first vainly attempting to locate "the leader" of the group, claimed that the demonstrators were illegally blocking the sidewalk outside Blumenauer's office.

comment: The South Side DFA group will be hosting an impeachment discussion with Willie Smith from Earl Blumenauer's office on Wednesday, Aug. 1st at the True Brew Coffee Shop, 3370 SE Milwaukie Ave. at 7pm.

No-Kill Shelter in Desperate Need, Please Help
The only no-kill shelter for homeless animals west of Portland is in desperate crisis. It is in danger of closing down for good within the next 2 months, without your help. It will take $20,000 to keep the Columbia County animal shelter operating till the end of the year.
Without this shelter, the only resource for animals who are abandoned in Columbia County is the county pound. This is no solution. Animals are only held for a short time at the pound, and then they are put to death if homes cannot be found. For the sake othese animals, we must keep the no-kill shelter open.

If you can donate, and/or if you have fund raising ideas that might help, please contact the Columbia County Animal Shelter:

Two weeks until the Convergences for Climate Action
The Convergence for Climate Action August 8-14 COME CO-CREATE AN ALTERNATIVE TO AN ENERGY-DEPENDENT WORLD!

In just two weeks -- August 8-14th -- regional North American Convergences for Climate Action will bring hundreds of social justice and environmental activists together to fight the fossil fuel empire and create truly sustainable, bio-regionally appropriate and community-based responses to climate change. The events on the West Coast and in the Southeast are modeled after the inspiring 2006 Climate Camp in the UK, which will reemerge this year at Heathrow Airport from August 14th-21st.

Part networking and activist skills training, part community sustainability demonstration site, the Convergences aim to invigorate the Climate Movement by pulling together communities of resistance. We aim to inject an anti-oppression, justice-focused agenda, and to demonstrate examples of truly sustainable, less energy-intensive lives that don?t depend on the oppression, thievery, and destruction attached to fossil fuel extraction.

Workshops at the convergences range in topics from using art in organizing, to understanding environmental racism, to building water catchment systems. The list of the west coast Convergence?s presenters include REDOIL (Resisting Environmental Destruction On Indigenous Lands), the Riot Folk Collective, Starhawk, and La Red Fronteriza de Salud y Ambiente (Border Health and Environment Network).

Explosions at a facility that sells liquefied natural gas near downtown Dallas
AP Photo of Explosion Cable news stations are reporting an explosion at a facility that sells liquid natural gas. At least two people were injured. Authorities evacuated a half-mile area surrounding the Southwest Industrial Gases Inc. facility and shut down parts of two of the area's busiest highways, Interstates 30 and 35.

comment: Look at this photo. This happened right next to a freeway. Some of the other wire photos popping up today are a great illustration of why you don't want this LNG stuff happening anywhere near a city. I don't know why rural people would want to face it either. This resulted from a relatively simple accident by a worker.

comment: This story has developed in a very interesting way, with local Dallas TV stations continuing to report the LNG was involved in the explosions. The facility holds an array of gases, and NY Times, CNN and others are now saying that the cannisters were holding acetylene. In either case, the event makes it very clear that emergency responders will not attempt to put out a major fire caused by a large LNG release. These fires burn hot and uncontrollably, and basically the firefighters in this case pulled back by a half mile or mile, and waited for the explosions to cease.

The Daily Astorian ran a story on the event, as well. The people working to stop LNG on the Lower Columbia, at least two of them, are quoted. The upcoming Climate Convergence will be happening near Puget Island. Puget Island is within 1/2 mile of the proposed Bradwood LNG terminal. A major failure in an LNG vessel or storage tank would cause a half-mile fire with the potential to give second degree burns within 30 seconds of exposure to people up to a mile away. The Dallas explosion is particularly relevant to the Coos Bay LNG proposal, however, where propane will be stripped out of gas coming into the facility. The purified natural gas will be sent out via pipeline, while the propane will be stored and trucked out of Coos Bay. This is a very under-reported safety risk with the Coos Bay proposal. Up to 50 trucks of propane might be leaving that site each day, according to LNG company representatives.

Juan Rubio's First Suit Settled
Juan Rubio, who has been repeatedly harassed, and even arrested by the Sandy Police for exercising his human and civil right to protest their treatment of (and probable murder of) his son, has achieved a moral, if not economic victory over the Sandy Cop Shop.

Juan, who's son Carlos "mysteriously" disappeared after a round of verbal judo with a bunch of Sandy Cops, only to be later found murdered (a murder that was never investigated), is at least partially vindicated in the settlement of his case against Sandy Cop Kalen (K.T.)Taylor. The original suit for 100 thousand dollars was downsized some, to five hundred dollars and an apology, to make room for a multi million wrongful arrest and harassment case against the chief, Skelton,

Readers here will recall that Juan was manhandled and arrested during the Sandy Mountain Days Festival, for protesting the lack of investigation into the murder of his son. A Clackamas County Judge ultimately threw that case out, declaring that Skelton had a lot of nerve to have arrested Juan, violating his first amendment rights. Juan's biggest crime, it would seem, was being tan in Sandy, and refusing to remain invisible.

NOBLE RESOLVE is too dangerous to allow in Oregon- Open letter to Rep. DeFazio
NOBLE RESOLVE is too dangerous to allow in Oregon. This exercise, drilling War of Terror scenarios in Oregon, comes just as the media is filling up with warnings of a new 9/11 and the recent Presidential Executive Orders: NSPD 51, 5/10/07, "... allows the sitting president to declare a "national emergency" without Congressional approval..."

It's looking more and more like a perfect storm of terror, treason and totalitarianism. Drills like these have a history of going live (e.g. 09/11/01 & 07/07/05) and now we have NSPD 51 the equivalent of Hitler's Article 48.

Thank you and we look forward to talking with you or a representative.

Best regards,
Informed Dissent
