Work is being done on setting up an IMC house in Miami area for the FTAA/ALCA November convergence, a dedicated web site is planned, etc.
Miami is trying to pass an unconstitutional ordinance for the upcoming FTAA protests, read about the ordinance and what you can do to help!
Looks like they want to wait until the last minute to put the kabosh on free speech in Miami. Sounds like something Bush once said about "these people hate our freedom".
look below for the actual text of the proposed miami city ordinance!
this action alert is adapted from public citizen's alert.
Towards the end of November, in Miami FLA, trade ministers from the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) will be meeting. Many protests worldwide have had Portland influence. Most recently the USDA/WTO Ministerial in Sacramento that was largely effective due to the people of Portland; and the WTO Cancun Ministerial that had much more international orchestration but was also helped along by people of Portland. The FTAA meetings in Miami must not be allowed to be successful. I would like to have a Portland flair added to those actions across the country. I know we cant have as much influence as in Sacto (as it is much further away) but having a few people down there early to help shape the demonstrations, welcoming center, IMC center, etc would be great. I think that we should definately have at least soem kind of prescence. If anyone is planning on going down there early in the month of November perhaps we should try to get more people together to help out. Lets keep the pressure on our oppressors and ter it all down.

QUE SE VAYAN will put some savvy desperados hundreds of feet high near the Miami FTAA Convention Center ( maybe thousands of feet, si tu quieres ) with giant banners to do cell phone interviews for days before and during the hemispheric Fat Cats (pinche Gatos-Gorditos) meeting. The joke is on the millionaires and corporate criminals when we tell them what the world thinks about their trade-economics-for-the rich. Help us think up good banner titles (SHORT!) Sponsor a Banner

It's important that concerned citizens immediately contact Miami city officials to voice their opposition to this draconian, unconstitutional measure.Tell them you're contacting them to express your opposition to this ordinance which strips away free speech rights - refer to it the parades and demonstrations ordinance; if they ask what you mean, tell them it's item J-O3-772 on the Sept. 25 City Commission agenda, which would add section 6.1 to Chapter 54 of the City of Miami municipal code
hey yo from houston!! join us as we say NO to the CENTRAL AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT!!! oct. 20th - 24th, 2003
On November 20 and 21 the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) will meet at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Miami to unilaterally finalize their vision of an economic policy that threatens the freedom and well being of every living being in this hemisphere. Although ordinary people will not be allowed into the meetings to offer their input, we will be in the streets to welcome them.
In good self-organizing tradition, folks are preparing to cover FTAA/ALCA meeting in Miami this coming November.
