Just got home from NYC
From NY Indymedia
I've been unable to connect to the NY IMC website for the last few hours.
With Legalization of 'COINTELPRO'-styled official attack, challengers to status-quo must adopt the techniques of a *resistance of consciousness* and *mass-jiu-jitsu*, or continue to be completely dominated.

from comrades in Madrid: "About 60 persons (mostly anarchists)showed up today at the US Embassy in Solidarity with those arrested in New York. Dozens of UIP cops (anti-group), including an armoured vehicle, were waiting for demonstrators while a police helicopter flew around the area (they were probably expecting more people). Police identified the first persons that got there and took positions in both sidewalks, so the people coming were divided in two groups, and wouldn´t let any banners be displayed...
i just listened to a call from a 23 year old woman who was arrested on Tuesday at the War Resisters League die-in at 28th and Broadway. She was calling from a 6x6 foot grimy cell in the basement of Central Booking. Previously, she was at Pier 57, where at least 2000 people are being held. [ed. This is at least the second or third independent reference to the total being around 2000.]
Over one thousand activists at the Republican National Convention in New York City have been arrested. We are calling for action to demand justice for those who have been arrested and remain in custody. Some activists in jail are refusing to cooperate with authorities and organizing solidarity actions in pursuit of the demands below. Please join us in supporting them!
After speaking on the phone with a member of Team Cascadia at their convergence space in New York City, I'm able to give a summary of arrests of Cascadians and related information. In total, 6 have been arrested/detained or are missing, and one has been released already.
"Alex is on the ground in New York and discusses his confrontations with Michael Moore and David Gergen as well as widespread police brutality including cops running people over with mopeds."
Well-loved and much-listened-to pdx indy radio personality Arturo Commando was arrested Tuesday in NYC. Arturo had been calling in reports from the streets during the chaos in the Union Square environs [ 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 ], and was apparently swept up during the mass arrests there or in Herald Square [ 1 | 2 ]. Arturo is one of at least a dozen indymedia activists who have been arrested in NYC, where police have been targeting alternative media, legal observers, and medics.
From the Free State of Cascadia, we send all our love and best wishes to our dear brother Commando, and look forward to seeing him again soon, healthy and safe and happy.
American democracy, which has taken a pummeling the last few years, is up off the canvas and has gotten its second wind. Come November 2, it will knock the power punch-drunk Crawford Chump so far out of the ring, he won't know what hit him. For a blow-by-blow, read on.
Contact info for donations for legal assistance and bail for those arrested this week.
Here's some breaking news updates from events so far in NYC today. Times are for NYC, not Cascadia.
This one makes the second march to happen on Thursday September 2nd. The first one will be held in Harlem and is a march to bring attention to world-wide discrimination to people of color
Jennifer Whitney of Portland has been detained (perhaps not officially arrested) in New York City.
This is a summary of things that I ran into and saw while in NYC yesterday. So, The day started early. I was up and downtown by 11 am for the Save Our Civil Liberties rally and march. The action was a theatre piece and march that would start at Columbus Park in Downtown Manhattan and go to Federal Plaza, also in Downtown. The march consisted of about 300-400 protestors with a heavy police prescense. [ PICTURES 1 I PICTURES 2 ]

Sparkle Girl Press Release: inb arrested by repressive state-apparatus
It has come to Sparkle Girl's attention that the Infernal Noise Brigade has been arrested during a performance at the Republican National Convention. We are at a loss to understand why the Repressive Apparatus Of State Terror (hereafter referred to as RAOST) finds the prospect of human beings playing beautiful music-- in public, for free, so terrifying. Wow, what a day in NYC! Protests, marches and non-violent civil disobedience erupted all over lower Manhattan, all day long and into the night. Protesters gave law enforcement a run for their money. The number of arrests is hard to count, but the number of occasions of inspiring resistance is even more difficult to ennumerate. People were challenging illegitimate authority, putting their bodies on the line, and acting with the only permit they need -- not the U.S. Constitution (as some correctly claimed), but with the state of being ALIVE -- all day long. It was an honor and a pleasure to deliver breaking news reports on today's actions. Props to the audio teams in NYC and PDX, and to the dispatchers in NYC, and to everyone who helped to make the indymedia coverage of the RNC protests in NYC so detailed, accurate, and up-to-the-minute. Together, we put the corporate f'n media to shame! Only here, on indymedia, could you find the REAL story of A31!
