I was able to attend the gatherings outside of both the Kerry campaign stop on the Waterfront, and the Bush visit to the Beaverton high school location. My main focus was gathering signatures to place Nader on the November ballot. John Kerry, in his speach to the crowd, estimated attendence at between fifty and sixty thousand. Being an experience politician, Kerry is probably pretty good at estimating the size of a crowd. These numbers suggest that more people could have decided to attend the Bush protests without putting a noticable dent in the swelling of support for Kerry.

Here's some great info from PPRC about the Bush visit, with some great details about the Terminal 6 site. i'm subscribed to the PPRC list so i can post this stuff to indymedia. As some folks might recall, elements of PPRC leadership don't like indymedia, don't post here, and have actively discouraged other folks from posting here. This attitude of theirs is asinine, since this site is one of the best resources for getting information out to the activist community. However, this site is also a place where the activist community can discuss/critique ideas/strategies, and some of the PPRC folks can't stand that kind of openness. i wish they'd get over it and use this resource, as it would be better for everyone that way. Report-back from video/legal training for Aug. 13 Kerry/Bush protests
This was a well-attended event, held at It's A Beautiful Pizza (which also hosts Videos from the Resistance showings). No one knows what's going to happen tomorrow (if anything), but the information was of a general type useful for any street protest you might attend.
