Bush Demo in Medford

Bush arrived on Airforce1to speak in Medford. Tickets to the "public" event were distributed only through the Republican Party of Oregon. Non-ticketholders were allowed in the parking lot. After the rally, Bush flew the government plane to an election fundraiser in Portland, and then California. He raised $2.6 million paid for by you and I. As we showed banners silently to the attendees coming out, we were subjected to plenty of verbal abuse from them. One man calmly said to me "You have no right to be here" as he went by (article 1)

Bush Security Plan to Target E-Mail
Bush's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board is creating a plan to have centralized source for collecting and reviewing e-mail and data relating to cyber security. The initiative would involve the major ISPs, hardware and software vendors, IT security companies, law enforcement agencies and computer emergency response teams. The draft also recommends restricting the use of wireless technologies by federal agencies and requires private companies to disclose their IT security practices.

White house spokesman Ari Fleischer says they "did not have any inkling" that such a protest would occur. Nat'l Lawyer's Guild called for Police Chief Kroeker's resignaton -- Vera says the city is reviewing tapes, but that "the primary objective was to protect the president and that was accomplished."
