Roger Waters On Assange Arrest: Freedom Of Information "Absolutely Essential"

(Pink Floyd bassist and composer, Roger) Waters asks: "What is Julian Assange if he's [not a journalist]?"

"Theresa May comes from a long line of lackeys, Cameron before her and Blair before him... We've all seen what's happened since the Second World War with the moving away from the welfare state that the Attlee government put in place... towards more and more dependence on the United States, with their nuclear submarine bases in Scotland and so on and so forth; we know that we are 'under the thumb'. Well we, the British people, need to get out from under the thumb and say: No. This is wrong. This is illegal."

Pink Floyd- No Rage Against The Machine 22.Apr.2019 11:09

They had a couple of pertinent records but they were no Rage Against The Machine. Their apolitical, over-orchestrated 70's stance became the boring inflated spoiled embodiment of rock culture consciousness and led directly to the Punk rebellion. Roger Waters was no Punk Rocker. Assange and Putin aren't either. Putin hiding behind "press freedoms" is the biggest joke ever.
