"Dan Shea, president of the Portland chapter of Veterans For Peace, and a Gresham resident, is stranded in Caracas because the Allied Pilots Assn, the pilots' union, https://www.alliedpilots.org has directed its members to refuse to fly to Venezuela because of the State Dept advisory. Allied Pilots Association phone number is: 817-302-2272
Dan is part of a fact-finding delegation from the US Peace Council. He was supposed to return to PDX Fri but Am AL cancelled his flight. Dan only has enough diabetes medicine left for today. He will be in serious trouble by tomorrow.
Dan is a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
The APA refusal to fly there is like the crew grabbing all the lifeboats and abandoning the passengers. Dan says the airport is operating normally.
There are apparently a lot of Americans there who are unable to fly out.
Dan Shea's phone 1-503-750-7649
I also called the APA and left messages for their communications director. His cell phone voicemail, though, is full.
