Over the years, we have made numerous efforts to call attention to the continuous patterns of illegal activity occurring in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Force Protection Division. Of particular concern, has been the complete disregard for the law by the division chief, Thomas Rudd and by his deputy Daniel Vessels.
We recently discovered that the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Force Protection Division is collecting information about undocumented residents in the Pacific Northwest (they call us "illegals") and providing this information to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to support deportation raids.
"These illegals pose a clear threat to JBLM, and must be quickly identified and deported" reads a recent Force Protection Division bulletin. The bulletin goes on to suggest that efforts should be made to identify anyone attending Seattle Council Member Kshama Sawant's immigration rights rallies and that "suspicious activity reports" should be submitted about those people.
According to an article published in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord base newspaper "Dan Vessels, antiterrorism officer, said nothing is too trivial to report. The community can report suspicious activity to the JBLM Protection Division Facebook page or Twitter account. Both are monitored 24/7. They can also call the office at 966-7319/7317."
The Joint Base Lewis-McChord Force Protection Division may be sending agents to infiltrate political meetings and rallies in order to identify attendees at these events. It is also very likely that they are monitoring your social media posts, and intercepting your email. Remember, they have done these things in the past, and even when ordered to stop continued their illegal activity. In this article, you can see that Thomas Rudd said he was reprimanded for his illegal conduct but, despite this, Rudd admitted in an April 2014 deposition that he continues to anonymously spy on email listservs of political activists. This illegal spying on political activists has not stopped and continues to this very day. ( link to bordc.org)
