Rep. Gutiérrez to Speak on House Floor in Bid to Free Oscar Lopez Rivera

Announcement of Oct. 9 event in Lafayette Park, Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at approximately 10:00 am ET, Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL) will speak on the floor of the House of Representatives during the morning hour to make an appeal to free Oscar Lopez Rivera, the Puerto Rican political prisoner held for 35 years in federal prison. The campaign requesting President Obama release Lopez Rivera has broad support in Puerto Rico and elsewhere, including internationally, across lines of party, faction, age, and class.

The Congressman will announce plans for a unity event on October 9, 2016 in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC by La Coalición por la Liberación de Oscar López Rivera to bring together allies, supporters, and advocates for Oscar Lopez Rivera's release.
