An announcement by local non-profit, Portland Fruit Tree Project, about current opportunities (paid & volunteer).
Portland Fruit Tree Project has some exciting leadership opportunities to share! We're currently accepting applications for our Board of Directors, a part-time staff position as Community Involvement & Harvest Coordinator, and three exciting internships! See below for more details... Join PFTP's Board of Directors! Board Members play an important and rewarding role in PFTP's efforts to make healthy food available to all, strengthen communities, and ensure equity in access to our programs. In addition, the board openings present a valuable opportunity to build skills and experience in non-profit governance, strategic planning, fundraising, and organizational leadership. Candidates with ties to business communities, philanthropic communities, low income communities, communities of color, and/or communities in outer East Portland are especially encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Sunday May 3rd. The board position overview can be found here. We're hiring! Community Involvement & Harvest Coordinator This part-time (.5 FTE) staff position is a great opportunity for a bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker to directly engage diverse community members and partners in PFTP's Community Harvest Program. The Community Involvement & Harvest Coordinator (CIHC) will work collaboratively with volunteers, interns, tree owners, community partners, and the Program Manager (PM) to plan and coordinate harvesting events. The CIHC will also take the lead on outreach to spread the word about PFTP and bring diverse participants into our programs. The application deadline is Tuesday May 5th. The full position description can be found here Summer-Fall Internship Opportunities The three Community Harvest Interns will assist in the coordination of PFTP's harvesting events, co-lead harvesting events, and conduct site visits with registered tree owners. Of the three interns, each will also take a lead role coordinating one of the following: our Tree Scouting & Tree Registration program, tree care activities through our Community Orchards/Fruit Tree Stewardship programs, or our Group & Benefit Harvest program. You will gain great event coordination and volunteer coordination experience; connections in the local food & urban agriculture movement, and the fulfillment of knowing that your efforts will make a positive impact for hundreds of people in the Portland area!
