Justice For The Gurule Brothers: March On North precinct (9/19, 5pm)

Friday Sept. 19th, 5pm @ Alberta Park 97217
Enough is enough. Recently Thai and Gio Gurule were assualted, and essentially JUMPED by the PPD (Portland Police Department) in the St. Johns neighborhood.

3-4 officers were caught on filming punching, twisting, kicking, and tazing a 16 year old youth. Those boys were lucky to not have been killed by the obvious power tripping members of our heinous police force.

So join us this friday the 19th at 5pm to demand justice!

Never again will there be another Mike Brown, keaton otis, Aaron Cambell, James Chasse, and many MANY others murdered by the police.

No justice, no peace!

It is important that we, as a community, make the portland police know we will NOT tolerate this. We will not tolerate the unneccescary use of violence and coercion they push onto us. We will not accept their racist profiling of youth, based upon faulty 911 calls. We will not accept any violence from the police.

Gio Gurule WILL be at the event, but NOT Thai, for obvious reasons.

We must realize, this could have easily been another Michael brown, I want to say Thai was lucky, I want to say that, but how can I when the boy was beaten and tazed? He was not lucky, just "lucky" he was not shot and killed by the boys in blue, like so many others were.

It is important that we, as a community, make the portland police know we will NOT tolerate this. We will not tolerate the unneccescary use of violence and coercion they push onto us. We will not accept their racist profiling of youth, based upon faulty 911 calls. We will not accept any violence from the police.

The media and the police are on full slander mode however. Claiming Thai was choking a female officer, and violently resisting arrest. In the two videos posted no such choking is scene, only resisting being jumped.

Lets make this perfectly clear; Cops are fucking BIG. They are big and strong. One single cop is bigger than Thai, but there wasn't just a single cop arresting Thai. There were 3-4 officers, punching kicking, and throwing Thai around. That is ALOT of weight for a 16 year old boy to handle, but he did anyways.

How would you react if you were being jumped by a gang known as the Portland Police Department? You would not be peaceful and accepting, especially when the only crime of yours was WALKING WHILE BLACK.

The 911 calls stated there were a group of 10-20 kids running around, being kids. Thai and Gio, and there friend were not in the group though. They were meerly walking. They were not smoking pot, they were not drinking alcohol (not that that would warrant what happened however). They were walking.

Another 911 call also stated the group was white.

We don't know what happened before this incident, but we do know Thai, Gio, and their friend were NOT apart of the group at the time of the arrest. They were walking.

So with that, it is imperative we show up and deliver a message. This cannot stand. We are criminalizing black youth for being black youth. We are making criminals out of nothing, solely because the colour of ones skin.

This event won't bring immediate justice, but it will start something. The struggle against white supremacy has, and will continue to be, a hard and tiring struggle. We can never give up though, because if we do ever give up, there WILL be another Michael Brown.

Forwards ever, backwards never.
