Over the last few weeks, police have murdered five Black men & women across the country:
Mike Brown: Ferguson, MO
Ezell Ford: South Los Angeles
Eric Garner: New York
Jacorey Calhoun: Oakland
Unidentified woman in San Jose who had a power drill
And of course, there have been thousands and thousands more murdered Black, Brown & poor people throughout the years.
It is important that we all remember that the police murder in Ferguson is the FOURTH in the past two weeks across the nation, and just another in a long history of police shooting unarmed members of the community. We don't need local changes in Ferguson, we need nationwide and global changes, starting with demilitarizing the police across the nation instead of giving them afghanistan surplus (MRAPs, etc) and new repressive technologies. Also, there ARE alternatives to calling 911, and everyone should research that and talk with your neighbors to make plans beforehand rather than for instance getting family members killed when police are called.
