"The Climate Jobs Committee formed to deal with the intersection of two crises we are facing, a jobs crisis and the climate crisis....

"The official unemployment rate is still hovering around 8 percent. More than 20 million people are looking for full-time work. At the same time, there is a severe climate crisis. We are seeing record heat waves, huge wildfires, drought, super-storms and more.
"It is unions and workers who need to be on the front lines of solving the climate crisis.
"Massive public jobs program
"We believe the long-term solution to both the climate and jobs crisis is the same. A massive public jobs program to (1) develop alternatives to the fuels that are causing the buildup of carbon dioxide in our air; (2) develop the necessary energy conservation in our buildings and our transportation systems; and (3) build the infrastructure needed to ensure that as many people survive climate disruption as possible....
