Back to School? Don't be a target for the Military!

Under the No Child Left Behind Act, schools receiving federal funding MUST release students' personal information to military recruiters if they are to continue to receive funding. Students may opt-out of the military database at the beginning of the school year.
"They'll know where you live... They'll have your phone number... They'll come to your door ... if you let them. Military recruiters, by strict authority of the No Child Left Behind Act, must be given the names, addresses and phone numbers of all high school students each year. Want to keep your privacy? You can be removed from the list of names by 'opting-out.'" -- The Full Picture, San Francisco, California

WHY DOES IT MATTER?
The September, 2009 article in MOTHER JONES by David Goodman, entitled, "A Few Good Kids?," deals with the heavy military recruitment of at-risk (low-income and/or minority and/or less academic) youth and the insidious invasion of student privacy under the No Child Left Behind Act and JAMRS (consumer) database maintained by the Pentagon.

See  http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2009/09/few-good-kids

OPT-OUT FACTS
* Students must opt-out EVERY YEAR.
* Traditionally, the deadline for opting-out for the year is October 1.
* Students do NOT require parental or guardian consent to opt-out.
* Every high school student's personal information is being released to the military -- not just that of juniors and seniors. (However, high school students will probably not be contacted by the military recruiters till their junior and senior years.)
* Females are NOT exempt from the provision.

HOW CAN STUDENTS OPT-OUT?
* At registration -- before the beginning of the school year. There is a checkbox on the registration form that allow for opting-out.
* By going directly to the school main office and amending the registration form if the student has not checked the box to opt-out. (If a student does not remember whether he or she opted out or not, the student can go to the main office to verify the information on their form.)
* By submitting an opt-out form (either that supplied by Recruiter Watch volunteers or by download at  http://www.themmob.org/lmca (Leave My Child Alone!).

My Brother Fought In Vietnam For My Country. My Country Simply Killed Him 13.Aug.2014 17:35

blues

Newsflash! The Secret Conspiracy Government (SCG) cares about you... NOT!!!

You won't be "sent to school" unless there is some discernible profit in it for THEM. The V.A. ("Veteran's Administration 'medical system'") will give you a couple years to die until their incompetent doctors deign to even look at you.

So yeah sure stupid kid:

"Vietnam veterans felt shunned by veterans of WWII and the Korean War, as well as the traditional veterans' organizations. Somewhere along the line during the 1960s and 1970s, the term "patriot" became a four-letter word. There were bumper stickers saying such things as: "Want to take a voyage to far off places, meet exotic people and kill them?" Until Vietnam, soldiers and sailors were a familiar sight in America's neighborhoods, as were the men who wore their uniforms proudly. But during the Vietnam era, soldiers were subject to taunts on public streets, and people spit on them at airports."

They sure did spit on my brother when he returned at the airport. I, and the rest of the real antiwar movement people would never spit on him. It was the lackeys of the FBI and such other global mafiosi who did the spitting. False flag as usual. He thought it was us until shortly before the V.A. let him die.

They will be comfortable letting you die the same way. They have the POWER. So what the fuck do they care?

wow 14.Aug.2014 09:40

Blues, you are seriously delusional. I really hope you get help at some point. You are slipping into sosbee levels of nonsense.

You filthy scum.

YOU ARE SCUM.
YOU ARE SCUM.

Were you in Iraq? No. "Quit yer lying"!!!

You are in a well tricked out town house up in Connecticut, far away from any bloodshed.

And you are the scum of the earth. And we all know now.

Bring Back The Draft 14.Aug.2014 20:56

Level the playing (battle) field and bring back the draft. With technology, it will be VERY difficult to get out of registering, regardless of your station in life. If there's no war then you will work on community and civil projects (helping poor, elderly, etc.) rather than whiling the day away on social media.

You can think I'm scum. I don't really mind either way. But that doesn't give your ramblings any more credit. You're seriously going to claim that the reaction toward returning US soliders from Vietnam was a false flag operation? Show some evidence. You don't have any, but it is fun to ask.

US public opinion regarding the war was at an all-time low when troops were pulled out. But if you want to claim it was somehow the evil feds, knock yourself out. Just don't expect anyone to take you seriously, as usual.

Feds, I Don't Know. Maybe Just Evil Pig Infiltrators 15.Aug.2014 20:51

blues

I used to visit my brother at his favorite bar after work sometimes. I was an anti-war hippie, so his places were not the ones I would frequent. He was screwed up and would get in fights for nothing. It certainly took far less than spitting to get him fighting, and sometimes I would have to get between him and whoever had the misfortune of setting him off.

The real anti-war people worked to keep people from joining the military, not to insult them when they returned. Let's say you are a somewhat normal anti-war person (not an evil pig infiltrator). Would you actually spit on someone who just returned from maybe four years in a battle zone? Unless you happen to be Chuck Norris, you are going to get your head torn off. The logistics of spitting on such a person and not getting killed are about like those of say, robbing a Vegas casino.

There was a lot of spitting on veterans, but certainly not very many real protesters who would want to, or who could survive doing it. The logic is that simple.

ok 16.Aug.2014 01:31

Clyde

"The real anti-war people worked to keep people from joining the military, not to insult them when they returned."

I don't doubt your experience, but there were plenty of other anti-war people (maybe not YOUR people) who treated veterans like shit on the return home. It isn't a conspiracy. It just means there was a spectrum of attitudes among the anti-war movement. And that spectrum included a lot of people who were hoisting the whole "baby-killer" rhetoric against US involvement overseas.

You can't claim an FBI conspiracy every time the left acts in a way you don't agree with.
Well, you can, but don't expect it to be taken seriously.

A few years ago some folks did a study of the spitting on soldiers thing and did find that it was an almost completely fabricated item, at least in terms of hard evidence. A lot of people talked about it, but I think only one newspaper account was found that mentioned it.
