"MAKING WAR NO MORE" - Celebrating the Spirit of William Stafford

"Making War No More," an event celebrating the spirit of William Stafford, is being held on Saturday, 18, 2014, at Portland Community College (Sylvania Campus Performing Arst Theatre), from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Oregon Fellowship of Reconciliation, Friends of William Stafford and Portland Community College.

12:30 p.m. -- Registration; book/video sales; tabling by peace and social justice organizations

1:00 p.m. -- Welcome: Michael Sonnleitner and Joanie McClellan and PCC President Jeremy Brown

Keynote Speaker: Cecil Prescod, KBOO talk radio host, United Church of Christ minister and community activist

Film: "Every War Has Two Losers," based on the journals of William Stafford when he was a conscientious objector in World War II

Dramatization: "Words that Burn, World War II experiences of William Stafford, Lawson Inada, Guy Galbadon in Their Own Words" with Cindy Williams Gutierrez, Damon Kupper, Paul Susi and Joaquin Lopez

Question and Answer: Cecil and company

3:00 p.m. -- Afternoon break (video/book sales; tabling; refreshments)

3:30 pm.. (During and after break to open second part of program) Singer Avery Hill
