On Saturday August 24, 2013, from 10:00-3:00 pm, Hella 503 Collective, the Parasol Climate Collective, and Portland Rising Tide are organizing at the NE corner of Northgate Park in Portland, near the intersection of N. Clarendon Ave. and N. Fessenden St., to go door-to-door to talk to St. John's residents about climate change. Canvassers will be provided with a script and a short training, and will specifically be talking to residents about the fossil fuel export terminals that are already impacting St. John's - which has oil trains coming through every week en route to the terminal at Port Westward - and the planned export of coal through the Pacific Northwest. Canvassers will also discuss how communities are already feeling the impacts of climate change, direct action, and ways to get involved, including study groups. Anyone joining in is advised to bring water, a snack, and good shoes. Pizza will be provided for canvassers by Vincente's Pizza afterward!
