Gun Appreciation Day Is Sponsored By A White Nationalist Party
Gun Appreciation Day, a prominent effort backed by conservative media outlets and activists to oppose new gun laws, has accepted the sponsorship of a white nationalist organization to promote and mobilize supporters for its January 19 event.
Gun Appreciation Day (GAD) is partnering with the American Third Position (A3P), a political group that describes itself as representing "the unique political interests of white Americans." According to a party official, the organization is composed of "white nationalists."
GAD's organizers ask supporters to visit "gun stores, gun counters, gun shows, and gun ranges to protest the Obama administration's post Sandy Hook assault on gun rights." The event has received significant media coverage and promotion in recent days.
GAD lists A3P on its "sponsors" page along with its logo, motto ("Liberty. Sovereignty. Identity") and a link to American3rdPosition.com. Other sponsors include prominent conservative media outlets like RedState, the right-wing blog edited by CNN contributor Erick Erickson. The event's main page asks visitors to "Please Support Our Sponsors."
The pro-gun event is teaming with A3P despite ample and easily found evidence of the group's fringe views. The first Google result for the group after its official website is the user-edited Wikipedia page for A3P, which currently states in its opening sentence that the group "promotes white supremacy."
According to its mission statement, "The American Third Position Party believes that government policy in the United States discriminates against white Americans, the majority population, and that white Americans need their own political party to fight this discrimination." The group also states that it "exists to represent the unique political interests of white Americans. It exists to maintain the identity, culture, and way of life of the American people, whose forefathers, from a vast wilderness, carved out an awe-inspiring extension of Western civilization, in order that their progeny--us--might live in relative peace and prosperity."
Civil rights groups have harshly criticized A3P. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) categorizes A3P as a white nationalist hate group, and states that it is a "political party initially established by racist Southern California skinheads that aims to deport immigrants and return the United States to white rule. The group is now led by a coterie of prominent white nationalists." The Anti-Defamation League calls A3P a "white supremacist political party."
In an September 2011 interview with West Virginia Public Broadcasting, Harry Bertram, A3P West Virginia chairman and a failed gubernatorial candidate, explained that "we are white nationalists" who are speaking out against white "genocide":
While the party has been called white supremacist, Bertram says that's totally inaccurate.
"White supremacist is always used by left-wing liberal media types who tend to paint a broad brush on people and try to demonize them," he said. "There's nobody that I know that's a white supremacist because that's like a slave owner, someone who wants to dominate over another person or people.
"What we say, we are white nationalists which means we love our race and are willing to do something to preserve it, nationalist means putting America first.
"When you start to destroy someone's culture and identity, bringing in a different group of people who aren't the same background, that's sort of committing genocide against that group. And we're not going to stand for it without speaking out against it," said Bertram.
A3P's website posts its white nationalist views on a variety of topics. On "race issues," the group writes:
A3P stands to protect White American interests, since no other political party has shown interest in doing so. This does not make us racist, but protective of our rights - which every other race or group is encouraged and praised for doing. Discriminatory "affirmative action" programs and the invasion of illegal immigrants adversely affect the welfare of all Americans, but especially the White majority.
The goal of A3P is therefore to restore and preserve the legitimacy of White identity, White heritage, and expressions of White interests. We want to stop the divisive, orchestrated destruction of America and restore her to greatness.
On immigration, A3P warns that "our people will become a minority in America within only a few decades":
During the 1960's, our immigration system was transformed to favor persons from Third World countries incapable of assimilating into any European homeland. If current demographic trends continue, our people will become a minority in America within only a few decades. We cannot let our children grow up in a nation that is fast becoming the Brazil of the Northern Hemisphere. The vast majority of immigrants, both legal and illegal, come from nations in Latin America, Asia and Africa lacking in education, science, art, law, governance or industrial achievements in any way comparable to ours. Numerous studies have confirmed that there is no net economic benefit to the U.S. economy from Third World immigration due to the added costs of education, infrastructure, health care, welfare programs and law enforcement.
An A3P platform guide urges: "Return to Americans their traditional right of freedom of association, including voluntary racial separation; the abolishment of all forms of government-mandated and corporate-mandated racial discrimination, such as affirmative action, quotas, and all forms of 'racial sensitivity training.'"
The SPLC reported that at the time that he was named A3P chairman, William Daniel Johnson "had been advocating for the deportation of all non-white immigrants and U.S. citizens, including anyone with any 'ascertainable trace of Negro blood,' since 1985, when he wrote a book arguing for a constitutional amendment to do just that."
GAD's website contains a sponsorship registration form, and states: "If you have an Political or Member Organzation [sic], Non-Profit, For Profit, PAC, Blog, Newsletter and/or Facebook Fan Page and want to help spread the message of the first ever national Gun Apprecation [sic] Day we want to add your group to our website as a sponsor." To become a sponsor, "No cash required (we will accept contributions to help us buy ads Online and On Air) , we just ask that you spread the word to your memebers [sic], fans and followers every day until and including January 19, 2013." The website states that prospective sponsors should "fill out the form below and we will be in touch."
A3P, in turn, is promoting the day on its website along with a link to GunAppreciationDay.com and an event flyer. A3P's website posted a "position paper" on gun violence which claims that "commencing in the 60's, psychiatrists leading the liberal political left have been in charge of America's social agenda. They have stricken God from the schools, instead of ethics and morals they teach moral relativism, the entire society has been perverted through misinterpretation of the first amendment to believe that gay is OK, that violence is fine, that the new way is better."
MSNBC.com's Zachary Roth reported on several other groups sponsoring GAD that hold extreme right-wing views.
Gun Appreciation Day is organized by Political Media Inc., a Washington-based Republican consulting firm headed by Larry Ward. Ward, who also serves as GAD chairman, recently came under derision for claiming that "Martin Luther King, Jr. would agree with me if he were alive today that if African Americans had been given the right to keep and bear arms from day one of the country's founding, perhaps slavery might not have been a chapter in our history." Ward has stood by his comment and claims that GAD "honors the legacy of Martin Luther King, but also the entire civil rights movement."
HAHAHA
Its so obvious the "Patriots", gun nuts and conspiracy clowns are in bed together...
Some little-known facts about the father of the American civil rights movement and non-violence "guru" — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — and his history with guns:
• MLK kept firearms in his house for self-protection.
• MLK's house was once described as "an arsenal."
• MLK applied for a concealed-carry permit after his house was bombed. (He was denied.)
• MLK surrounded himself and his family with armed bodyguards.
Many in the civil-rights movement continued to carry guns after MLK gave them up. Ironically, the assassinations of MLK and US Senator Robert Kennedy helped open the "policy window" needed to pass the Gun Control Act of 1968.
One has to wonder about these things.
Murder has always been illegal and yet murder still happens.
People (like MLK) willfully disarm themselves in the name of peace and non-violence and yet peaceful/non-violent people continue to be murdered in cold blood.
Gun restrictions keep getting tighter and tighter and yet murders continue to be committed with guns (and other weapons), both legal and illegal.
The "Health Ranger," Mike Adams, recently made a silly video proving that guns don't kill people:
Nope. Not one of those guns jumped up and killed anyone. Imagine that.
When one examines the problem in all honesty (I said: honesty), one has to conclude that weaponry is not the cause of murder.
Jesus said: "For out of the heart come evil thoughts — murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person..." ()
Jeremiah the prophet said: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" ()
It really doesn't take a genius IQ to figure out that murder is first conceived in — and proceeds out of — the heart and mind of man.
Not from the barrel of a gun.
Or the claw of a hammer.
Or the heel of a jackboot.
Over this past weekend, thousands of people across the nation gathered to protest past, present and coming encroachments on the right to bear arms. Some were carrying; some were not.
Please note the irony: Peaceful, non-violent protests involving weaponry by people who do not want to murder, or be murdered.
One could almost imagine this becoming a movement.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream.
We, the people of all ages, races and religions who live in and love this country, have a dream, too.
We have a dream that our halls of legislation and courts of justice will one day be free from greedy and contentious elements who would co-opt and corral the power therein toward their own nefarious ends.
We have a dream that our Constitution will one day be held in high esteem by all who take an oath to uphold it and that the unalienable rights enumerated therein will be freely accessible to all without fear of reprisals, recriminations, or "indefinite detention."
We have a dream that one day freedom will ring across all our lands, lakes, rivers and seas and that our homes, schools, businesses, governments and places of worship will be free from infiltration, surveillance and oppression.
And when that day comes?
Thank the great God Almighty, because we will be free at last.
American Third Position, White Supremacist Group, Removed from 'Gun Appreciation Day' Sponsors
January 18, 2013 by Brett Wilkins in Racism & Discrimination with 0 Comments
A white supremacist group has been removed from sponsorship of 'Gun Appreciation Day' following the publication of a Media Matters story.
Media Matters for America posted a story on its website about Saturday January 19, 'Gun Appreciation Day' (GAD), on which patriotic Americans are urged to visit "gun stores, gun counters, gun shows and gun ranges to protest the Obama administration's post-Sandy Hook assault on gun rights."
"If the American people don't fight back now, Obama will do to the Second Amendment what he has already done to the First- gut it without a moment's thought to our basic constitutional rights," GAD chairman Larry Ward wrote.
"Gun Appreciation Day is expected to rival Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day as a statement of protest against government policies," GAD organizers predict, referring to the nationwide demonstrations in support of the popular chicken restaurant's support and funding for anti-gay hate groups, some of which advocate the criminalization of homosexuality.
Among the 'Gun Appreciation Day' sponsors listed on the event's site until hours ago was American Third Position (A3P), self-described "white nationalists" whose chairman, William Daniel Johnson, is a prolific anti-Semite. Johnson also believes that only "non-Hispanic whites of the European race" should be allowed to live in the United States.
A3P has been designated a white nationalist hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
After the Media Matters story brought widespread attention to 'Gun Appreciation Day's' embrace of a white supremacist group, the event's organizers dropped A3P from their list of partners and issued a statement that reads, in part:
"We have removed the group (A3P) and reiterate that this event is not about racial politics, it is about gun politics. We believe in equal rights of ALL Americans in every race, gender, religion location and economic class to keep and bear arms as guaranteed to them in the Bill of Rights."
UPDATE: Following the publication of this story, Gun Appreciation Day removed the American Third Position from its list of sponsors and released a statement about its decision. A screenshot of the original listing is available here.
White power morons and their guns is never a reason to throw away the whole idea of maintaining gun rights. If these idiots are armed, and they won't be giving up their guns, well that's all the more reason we should arm ourselves.
Don't let the evil and bigoted be the only ones who are armed and ready for the coming collapse. Gun appreciation is a skewed way of looking at it anyways. It's like celebrating abortion instead of pro-choice. Don't let them fool you, and don't let them disarm you. This isn't romantic or cool, it's just plain reality.
"The pro-gun event is teaming with A3P despite ample and easily found evidence of the group's fringe views. The first Google result for the group after its official website is the user-edited Wikipedia page for A3P, which currently states in its opening sentence that the group "promotes white supremacy."
If anyone thinks the Gun Appreciation people were "reviewing sponsors", I have a bridge to sell them. They were co-organizers and GOT CAUGHT.
Good on them to own it and apologize though. That was smart; I give them that. A3P OTOH is whining like all get out:

'Media Matters' Hypocrites Smear the American Third Position Party
Web Team | January 19, 2013 | no comments
by Dan Poole | American Third Position Party. Any so-called "media watchdog group" that is serious and professional does not need to resort to fallacious appeals in order to make their argument. If the political positions taken by an opposing group are wrong, than it is the duty of the accuser to prove them wrong instead of quoting those positions and baselessly assuming they are inherently wrong.
But seriousness and professionalism have never been the fortes of Media Matters for America. When they aren't making stuff up about issues like affirmative action and right-to-work laws, they present adverse information about people they don't like with the intention of discrediting those people. The second part of that last sentence is a modified version of Wikipedia's definition of "poisoning the well," the logical fallacy that MMFA used in a hit piece yesterday on the American Third Position Party.
Instead of explaining why the positions taken by A3P are wrong, MMFA simply quoted AP3's positions on race and immigration and left its readers with the implicit, unproven assumption that those positions are wrong. At no point did MMFA even offer a rudimentary justification for why A3P's positions are to be feared. And that's because MMFA is incapable of offering one.
... La Raza says it "[promotes] the advancement of Latino families,"
When White European Americans promote the interests and concerns of European Americans it is "racism"...
For example, MMFA quoted the party as saying, "[A3P] exists to represent the unique political interests of white Americans. It exists to maintain the identity, culture, and way of life of the American people." MMFA also quoted the party as saying, "A3P stands to protect White American interests." In other words, A3P describes itself as an American institution committed to strengthening this great nation by promoting the advancement of white families. A3P also works to improve opportunities for white Americans.'
Wait a minute, those last two sentences sound suspiciously familiar. That's because La Raza used those exact same words about "Latino families" and "Hispanic Americans." Grammatically, how A3P and La Raza describe themselves are no different. It's just that A3P advocates for whites and La Raza advocates for Hispanics and Latinos.
Yet, MMFA smeared A3P but gushed with praise over La Raza. Not only that, but in attempting to "correct" the "myth" that La Raza is a radical identity politics-driven group (as they quoted Michelle Malkin of saying), MMFA argued in one of its blue headlines: "In fact, NCLR's mission is 'to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans.'"
According to MMFA, the fact that La Raza advocates for Hispanics is proof that they aren't driven by identity politics, but the fact that A3P advocates for whites is proof that they are a "hate group" who wants to "return the United States to white rule." If MMFA actually had a thing that normal people call "ethics," they would either condemn both organizations or support both. But by demonizing A3P and gushing over La Raza, MMFA proves yet again that it has an anti-white double standard. MMFA isn't anti-racist, it is anti-white.
Thus it's only fitting that on the same page La Raza says it "[promotes] the advancement of Latino families," it cites MMFA on the bottom of the page as "proof" that its goals aren't out of the mainstream. MMFA scratches La Raza's back and La Raza scratches theirs. After all, they both share the same discredited ideology of progressivism.
In conclusion, MMFA's hit piece on A3P is not to be taken seriously by anyone with objective or rational thought. Their complete and utter failure to explain why A3P's positions are wrong, and their hypocrisy in how they treated A3P compared to La Raza, offers the latest evidence of MMFA's intellectual emptiness and its moral bankruptcy.

Was also spammed by idiot Dan Poole on the examiner, :
No one's saying the White Power is a reason to "throw away guns rights"(roll eyes).
The point is THIS EVENT, Gun Appreciation Day, was co organized/sponsored by White Supremacists. Ergo, it's some racist astro turf bullshit, NOT a grassroots event.
The fact is there are many people who own and use guns who USED to be caught up in the bullshit, THEN GREW UP. They are not happy about organized events that make them all look like a bunch of racist trigger happy loons.
"it's some racist astro turf bullshit, NOT a grassroots event"
Uh no. No more [astroturf] so, anyway than any of the nationwide multi-metro anti-war rallies that have been held in recent years. Lots of the 'umbrella' groups for a particular cause bring in other 'like minded' organizations when trying to boost turnout.
apparently, according to everything posted above, A3P glommed into supportership of this event due to their purported high "concern" for 2nd Amendment rights. (And as also seen above they were pretty rapidly jettisoned, when publicly outed)
FYI, there happens to quite an 'anti-Nazi' / anti-White power strain within the conservative circles and particularly among gun owners / 2nd Amendment advocates in the U.S.
*don't take my word for it* - check out for yourself, some of the harder-core gun owner boards and see not only how long that kind of thing is tolerated - but also the full dressing down it gets.
so all of you basement-dwelling black pajamaed anti-Fa types can go get your metaphysical diapers changed somewhere else...
and fwiw-just a heads up: when the SHTF / shooting starts, I'd wager that some of the real conservatives/gun owners who have as little -- or even less -- tolerance for Nazis/White power clowns as you, may not even make too much of a distinction, targetwise, between _you_ (black pajamaed anti-Fa) and them ....
also BTW: some of you who were too busy ejaculating (female or otherwise) into the comments thread here,
-----> might consider actually viewing the originally-posted videos.
Which are entirely, in fact, about the U.S. citizens' 2nd Amendment rights.
" Mommy, Mommy look what Media Matters found out about Gun Appreciation Day! "
GAD's website contains a sponsorship registration form, and states: "If you have an Political or Member Organzation [sic], Non-Profit, For Profit, PAC, Blog, Newsletter and/or Facebook Fan Page and want to help spread the message of the first ever national Gun Apprecation [sic] Day we want to add your group to our website as a sponsor." The website states that prospective sponsors should "fill out the form below and we will be in touch."
A3P, in turn, is promoting the day on its website along with a link to GunAppreciationDay.com and an event flyer.
