The Portland Police Bureau's Mounted Patrol Unit will be hosting the Northwest Regional Mounted Squad Seminar September 16-20, 2012. The seminar will focus on developing officer's equitation skills, as well as tactics involving public disorder and crowd management.

The Portland Police Bureau's Mounted Patrol Unit will be hosting the Northwest Regional Mounted Squad Seminar September 16-20, 2012. The seminar brings together horse patrol units from Oregon, Washington and Canada as well as instructors from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the London Metropolitan Police's Mounted Patrol Branch.
The seminar will focus on developing officer's equitation skills, as well as tactics involving public disorder and crowd management. The seminar will take place at the Portland Police Bureau's Mounted Patrol Unit Facility, located at 1362 Northwest Naito Parkway in Portland. Training on September 17th and 18th is open to public viewing from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Media is invited on Tuesday September 18, 2012, anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The training will culminate with combined exercises and mock scenarios incorporating the participating mounted police units and the members of the Portland Police Bureau's Rapid Response Team on Thursday, September 20th at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
