The Hollywood Theatre Presents: Tergit, a rare film about music from Mauritania

The Hollywood Theatre returns with Yeti Bootlegs, an exhilarating new film series! On June 25th for one night only, Mike McGonigal in conjunction with Sahelsounds presents the lost late 70's film Tergit, a movie so rare you can't even find it on IMDB.
This early experiment by filmmaker/poet Hemmam Fall is a hypnotic look at early musical and cultural phenomena in one of the world's least populated places, the West African nation of Mauritania which lies sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the desert. There will also be an accompanying exploration of contemporary Mauritanian music culture through the lens of youtube by Chris Kirkley.
