What is wrong with this picture?

Rabbits are but mere pawns in this sick, twisted game.
What in the hell is going on? Rabbits used in live slaughter demonstration by Portland Meat Collective. Rabbits liberated. Rabbits left on doorstep of Rabbit Advocates'doorstep. Rabbits unliberated by Rabbit Advocates and turned over to Geordie Duckler to be released back to Portland Meat Collective to be slaughtered at a future date. What is wrong with this picture?

What are you trying to say? You need to be clearer about the details and of whom you are being critical and why.

I assume that the organization Rabbit Advocates is an aboveground organization. Is that correct? In which case what choice would they have if found in possession of liberated (stolen property) rabbits. It is all well and good for those of you functioning underground and willing to risk imprisonment to liberate rabbits to do so. Quite another to be critical of others who are operating aboveground. Or do you intend to be saying that you see no purpose/function for an aboveground rabbit organization as well as underground organizations.

Look --- if this is a situation where those who liberated the rabbits knew that the rabbits would be identified as "stolen property" why were they dropping them off at an organization that would be unable to protect them in that case? Internal "animal rights" politics?

PS -- lest you misinterpret where I am coming from, I have never in my life eaten rabbit.

Today, Friday January 13, 2012, Portland Police Bureau detectives helped facilitate the return of several stolen rabbits to their rightful owner.

The rabbits were reported stolen on January 7, 2012 from the home of a rabbit supplier associated with the Portland Meat Collective. Initial reports were that 23 rabbits were stolen but after a closer evaluation by the victims, it was actually 18 rabbits.

Information was developed by the victim that the 18 rabbits were dropped off at a Rabbit Advocacy location in Portland.

Detective Darrell Miller of the Portland Police Bureau worked with both the Rabbit Advocacy group and the Portland Meat Collective and the supplier to return 17 of the 18 stolen rabbits. The remaining one rabbit was adopted and the investigation on its whereabouts is continuing.

Detective Miller would like to hear from anyone with information about the theft of the rabbits. No arrests have been made in this case.

What angers me is that the people who can afford to pay $200+ for PDX Meat Collective classes in slaughter and butchery are the very people who can afford to do the truly humane and sustainable thing by purchasing organic fruits, vegetables, and grains for a vegetarian diet. There are those in this world, this country even, who do not have that choice. I am tired of this trendy "urban farming" bullshit bandwagon that the upper middle class has jumped on. "Look at me--I'm sustainable, I'm humane, because I pet the bunny before I break his neck. I read "Real Simple" magazine and I drive my new $25,000 hybrid car to the local New Seasons for wine and cheese tasting while texting my friends about the $500.00 baby stroller I just purchased for my third child." Give me a break. If you really want to do something humane--give up eating animal flesh. The rabbits, chickens, goats, cows, etc. want to live as much as you do.
