Get Involved in Occupy 2.0 "Occupy The Courts"
As reported in The PeaceWorker http://peaceworker.org/ and many other independent media sources, the Occupy movement has been noticed and the "Establishment" is not laughing any more. Some serious repression is taking place as the iron fist of the 1% comes out of its velvet glove and as the 1%-dominated "mainstream" media spins the news in ways that are detrimental to the movement.
The movement is about creating a world where the political, economic, legal and environmental protection systems work for the citizens first and foremost. If you want to live in that world, now is the time to get involved. The chance may not come again. Seek out your local Occupy movement. There are many ways to help that do not involve camping in the cold and wet.
Many local Occupy groups are cooperating with Move to Amend's "Occupy the Courts" action on January 20th (and 21st in Salem) challenging the Supreme Court's string of decisions - beginning in 1886 - according "personhood" to corporations. Check with your local group to get involved. In Portland:
1.20.11 Start gathering at 11:30.
Rally starts at 12 Noon
Rally is followed by march around the Pioneer Courthouse. While this is not official Federal courthouse, it is where the District Court judges have their offices as well as where some federal hearings and cases are heard.
