Too many cops tailing Occupy "Santas"

It appears that Portland's "finest" aint got nothin' better to do than to tail a small group of Occupy "Santas and elves" on their round of merrymaking downtown yesterday.
It appears that Portland's "finest" aint got nothin' better to do than to tail a small group of Occupy "Santas and elves" on their round of merrymaking downtown yesterday. Occupiers were having fun, singing carols and telling shoppers how bad Wells Fargo, Macy's, etc. have been, with cops right behind them. Cops on bikes, and cops on horses, WTF??? what a frigging waste of our tax dollars! Oh, I get it---more overtime pay for the cops, more cuts for schools, the poor, kids, seniors, homeless and 99%!

How about some Christmas Carols at the Mayors house and at City hall 19.Dec.2011 11:25

Not a Grinch

The Mayor must be Ok with the use of police survelliance on Santas. What a scrooge.

Audit of City Overtime? 19.Dec.2011 13:47

Taxpayer

The taxpayers should demand an audit of overtime expenditures for both the City of Portland Police Bureau and the Parks & Rec workers. This would be the overtime expended to supposedly "serve and protect" during the Occupy encampment and subsequent protests. Ditto for the Park cleanup.

Having taxpayers pay for overtime for City employees merely on the okay of a higher-up is NOT okay, particularly since the 99 percent are the ones inordinately bearing the tax burden of paying for such "frivolous overtime." Some of the protests had police escorts that outnumbered the number of protesters! The park cleanup could probably be handled to a great extent by Occupy Portland supporters and/or community youth organizations that are accustomed to performing community service, under the supervision of a Parks & Rec staff person.

Enough is enough and enough is too much.
