Portland State University Replies With Cockroach Letter.

There is a standard form letter that airlines will send out to their customers who complain about some issue like lost luggage, or a bug being in coffee; it is called the "Cockroach Letter." Yesterday we received a CL from PSU concerning the hiring of that famous war criminal Condoleezza Rice to give the keynote speech at the Simon Benson Awards Dinner to be held on 19th of October. This is a copy:

Dear Mr. Walsh:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us to explain your concern
over our decision to bring Condoleezza Rice, Ph.D. to Portland State
University?s fundraising gala, the Simon Benson Awards Dinner.

This annual community event features world-renowned, public figures
each year to stimulate thought, share their experience and inform our
guests. As you well know, Portland State University is a public
institution?we value the free expression of ideas and provide open
forums to do so.

The event, now in its twelfth year, has welcomed speakers from all
ends of the political spectrum and this year is no different. The
choice to feature Condoleezza Rice centered on the many ways that her
life and work represent the ideals of opportunity, education and
access for all.

The Simon Benson Awards Dinner brings together many sectors of the
community to honor exemplary philanthropy in the Portland area. At the
event, our overarching goal is to raise support for philanthropy in
our region while shining a light on the ways in which Portland State
contributes to our vibrant city. With that in mind, the speaker choice
is just one element of the event?s program.

We welcome your feedback and concerns and we will take them into
consideration.

Sincerely,
Catherine Faris
Associate Vice President, Development

You have high moral standards, Joe. Thank you for always asserting them. condi is a disgusting choice for PSU to make, & you are right in calling them on it.
