Troy Davis Denied Clemency; Nazi USA Continues to Promote Death Penalty

Troy Davis was denied clemency. Nazi USA, led by the twin parties of the death penalty, war and fascism, the Democrat-Republicans, continues to promote the death penalty. We have a black president and black attorney general, supporters of the death penalty, who could easily get a federal injunction on the basis of civil rights violations but have done nothing. Amnesty International is asking everyone to sign their latest petition to the Georgia District Attorney, who could stop the Sept 21, 2011, 7 p.m. execution of an innocent man, another lynching in the backward USA that is now among a minority of nations that still has the death penalty.

"If you want anything to change, you must vote socialist or green" - what a joke! You think anything is going to change through electoral politics? You think we have time to wait and see? Want to see what would happen if the greens took power (which is a pipe dream to begin with) - look to Germany - a bunch of social democrats who continue imperialist wars and capitalist domination. Fuck that noise. Occupy everything, demand nothing.

is there a doubt about his guilt? 20.Sep.2011 11:55

justsomedude

I have to admit I have not followed this case.
Is there any REAL doubt about his guilt, or is this more to do with the process of how the punishment phase of the trial was handled?
Also, some seem to throw the terms "Nazi" and "Fascist" around with without care. Had you ever lived in a truly fascist state, you would be upset at the use of these terms as a punch line.
When your family is tortured and murdered in front of your eyes by a state sanctioned thug, then you are free to use the term "Nazi".
Disagreeing about the method of punishment for a convicted murderer of a public servant is a great argument to have, disagreeing about the guilt or innocence of this man is again, a great argument to have.
Calling America a Nazi state because of the death penalty is absurd and if you truly believe this, then you are crazy if you don't catch the next boat to another country, because if this truly is a Nazi state, then you are complicit by living here.

You admit that you have not followed this case, but you pontificate anyway. Amnesty International's position has been & is that Troy Davis' trial was in fact so flawed that he was NOT proven guilty. Supposedly this country believes that people are innocent till proven otherwise.

As to the use of certain terms, if you have not been following this struggle -- or helping it! -- you do not understand the emotions of it. People who have been working for Justice for Troy have every right to use every emotional term at their command. Being academically correct is not called for at this moment.

pontificate anyway 20.Sep.2011 13:46

Den Mark,

Den Mark,

I'm not automatically opposed to the death penalty. In fact there are some people who deserve it. Sorry if that offends you. So the question isn't if he should be put to death but if he should be given a new trial.

Why doesn't Obama do something? 20.Sep.2011 13:57

Vin Bowman

I am so sick and tired of Obama not doing shit for people esp. blacks. Fuck him.

Vin 20.Sep.2011 14:36

I don't believe Obama can do anything other than Pardon him. Murder is a state charge, not a federal charge.

The supreme court might be able to issue a Stay of execution.

On the "fascist" comment 20.Sep.2011 15:52

When you live in a Law and Order state that holds sway over peoples lives, that condones institutionalized murder and torture of civilians, like when two sociopaths in badges beat an unarmed schizophrenic into a coma and watching him die, that constitutes the worst kind of torture. And when the state looks the other way because he was just another bum, as in, the helpless and the weak are inferior to the strong, as in attitudes that are given enough time to develop into public policy that resemble Nazi ideology, we can call that fascists.

We as a community have a right to protect ourselves against people who are a threat to us. But the means we go about doing it are fatally flawed, and when our government feels it has the right to implement martial law to first amendment rights just to suppress a demonstration against police brutality in San Francisco, or your chicken shit mayor doesn't allow for the firing of two merciless animals who would slay an innocent mans life because they were bored, it has similar parallels to the rise of fascism in Italy, If an armed police force decided to act as an independent rogue body, what would stop them?

Actually more so than in Germany, which many would say was never a truly fascist state, just an unbearable nightmare. Italy is actually considered to be the closest thing to what an actual fascist state was supposed to look like.

We cannot trust the moral fiber of our Police to be the mediators between what happens in the streets and what happens in the court room. I.e. this mans life has been decided for him by an institution that if there's a god in heaven, will banish to hell. These are the same ilk of people who were Mussolini's original "fascist gangs." Dumb white trash who have no ideology, no heart, just a propensity for violence that is sanctioned by the state to protect the concept of "private property."

When life and death is on the line, the word fascist isn't such a bad derogation to throw around. I agree with you that we shouldn't just throw it around. But when the possible execution of a possibly innocent man is being called into question, and there's a public outcry as loud as this (I have people who haven't read a newspaper in their lives sending me links to petitions via Facebook), and the state decides to show that it has more power than mercy, more dominance that reasoning, than we can say fascist. I know, because I've never used the word in my life, because the connotation for me is the execution of my ancestors.

I am so sick for Troy Davis. He deserves clemency and I feel the state just wants death, doesn't matter that they have the right guy. I am so sorry.

It's truly a fucked up situation in this fucked up country when a person can be sent to death row based on NOTHING but eye-witness testimony. Even IF 7 out of 9 witnesses had NOT recanted, there has still been no physical evidence nor murder weapon ever produced! And even if Troy WERE "guilty", he should've gotten no more than a few years then granted early release at the most. Noone should even recieve capital punishment for blowing away some goddamned pig.

And NEVER count on Obama to do shit, even IF he could. The lousy son-of-a-bitch spent all day showering the Libyan "rebels" with praise, but he vows to veto Palestine's plee for official statehood!

Far from it 20.Sep.2011 21:39

justsomedude

Cops committing crimes does not a fascist state make. Cops lose their badges and go to jail all the time for shit they do. That doesn't sound like a fascist state to me. A cop shooting a dog under dubious circumstances doesn't make America a fascist state.
And again, if the place is so fucking bad, why are you still here? Do you have felonies on your record that keeps you from being issued a passport? Are you a prisoner of the US government trapped here in this "fascist" state for eternity because of those felonies?
America is filled with fuck-ups who are just smart enough to know that they would starve to death in almost any other country, and so they stay here.
Nobody ever said the system was perfect, or the people in it. Far from it. It sounds like this Troy Davis might very well be innocent, and the according to the NY Times his case has been reviewed, and reviewed, and reviewed again. Every lying sack of shit in Prison claims there are innocent which makes it much harder for people like Troy Davis to stand out from the crowd.

no comparision 21.Sep.2011 03:05

"Every lying sack of shit in Prison claims there(sic) are innocent which makes it much harder for people like Troy Davis to stand out from the crowd."

The difference b/t Troy Davis and every "lying sack of shit in prison" is that Troy has been sitting on death row for damn near 20 years based off ZERO evidence other than eye witness testemony - 7 of which have since recanted alledging police torture. Also, many people in prison plead guilty. This really has nothing to do with anyone else in prison. Troy's is a unique and particularly henious case.

An possibly innocent man was murdered today after 7 out of 9 witnesses recanted. And it happened because some dumb fuck white trash piece of shit thought they owned law and order because they took a job that promised it and gave hillbilly bob a pension. That's less than fascism, that's just pathetic. Fuck the language dude, and fuck American democracy if this is what is supports. Or else, pay your taxes and give me my trust fund chicken shit.
