Revisting Indymedia in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001

The crocodile tears over 9/11 from the corporate media doesn't only focus on those who died that day. Yahoo New's coverage of the 911 anniversary was sure to include pictures of our military and so did many other mainstream "news" sites like CNN. Juxtaposing images of our military with those of ash covered streets is a disgrace.
I'm sure those who died that day would be happy that two senseless wars and a police state ensue because of their deaths. Would there be anything worse than knowing your death was used as an excuse to justify two imperialist wars, the PATRIOT Act, Guantanamo, and a police state?

The tragedy of this day extends to more than planes hitting towers and killing people. We Amerikkkans should feel shame about how we let fear turn the world into a police state and shame about the millions of innocent Iraqis we killed to not make the world any safer.

This media feeding frenzy has less to do with the events of that day and more about justifying the insanity of war which fell in the wake of September 11th.

Indymedia had far better coverage of 911. Fuck war.

Speaking for those of us who think freedom means more than being able to select from different brands, lets go back and remember with independent media instead.

It is amazing how quickly things changed for our movement in 24 hours. The day had not even ended before the war cry was made. Here are posts from the day before Sept. 11, 2001:

If you want to browse for more articles, here are the indexes for (some of) the old IMC listings. For some reason, the most hits to these sites are dated around September 11th. That's really sad because great old protest footage and stories are there too.
