We have many Heroes
You must find your own way to fight against tyranny--to the streets!
There are demonstrations, vigils and in DC people are taking to the streets and will not go home. David Swanson, Chris Hedges and many, many more will defy the government, many will go to jail because they ain't going to just walk around with a permit. The question for us who cannot go to DC is what are we willing to do here in Portland. I know we should support them in some way, money is good---money and a sit-down in our Pioneer Square would be better. In the meantime, there are people who have fought against these wars and occupations from the dropping of the first bomb. We have had good people arrested, sometimes to make a point, but others because security or the police were just being jerks. Good and noble people have been "maced," pushed around and sometimes hurt by our cops. People have lost jobs, risked their health and fought the good fight, don't you dare lessen what they have done by giving up; continue to fight. You will not vote in the next election? People throughout our history have died to give you the right to vote; not just on battlefields, but in the streets---sitting around whining about things is not enough, get off your ass---we are all tired and it is unfair that citizens have to do so much work to keep this republic from collapsing, but that is what we have. Join with your friends and start to plan what you want to do in October to support the sit down and resistance that will happen in DC. The criminals who run our country, our state, our city want you not to vote, they like it when you just whine and hope for the best. They laugh at you when all you do is complain but you are not willing to do anything that may cause you pain or cause you to sit in jail for a time. We have heroes and you can be one of them but you've got to stop saying, "Oh, it does not make any difference so why do anything." Here are things that people are doing NOW!
Every Saturday from 1100-1300 a small group of people stand on 13th and Multnomah near the Lloyd Center
Each Saturday from 1200-1300 a small group of people stand at Oak Grove Blvds and McLaughlin
Every Friday from 1600-1730 a small group stands at 1st and Madison, Hawthorne Bridge.
Each Friday from 1700-1800 there is a march starting at Pioneer Square
There may be others but the point is DO SOMETHING.
My point is there are people in the streets and you can join them, or start your own protest, the more people in the streets the better. Most people will stay safe, will not pick up a sign and stand against wars and occupation, but you could support us who do. Find a group like Veterans For Peace and give them some time or money to keep the fight going. There is not one of these actions that will stop our lunatics who call themselves leaders, but there are hundreds of these across the country and collectively they do work. The politicians are only good when they understand that if they do not represent their constituents they will be replaced. There is a small demonstration of this happening here in Portland.
Several months ago just a few of us started a protest outside of City Hall to continue the fight against the full council for signing on to rejoining the Joint Terrorist Task Force. We decided to protest for an hour each Wednesday until the election in November 2012---we were pissed. Randy Leonard has announced that he will not run for re-election, Mary Nolan will take on another woman, Amanda Fritz, and Sam will be challenged for the mayor's spot; bottom line all three could be replaced. That is what a republic is suppose to look like, tell your constituents to go to hell and you may find out that you are out of office, and some of you say that you will not bother to vote--I say---fuck you! If this republic fails it will not fail because of corrupt politicians, it will fail because you are lazy and let it fail. Fight damn it! Don't tell me how much you have done in the past, just keep doing something each day---call you congress persons, sign petitions, get into the streets, it does add up. If you can't vote for Obama, there are other races that you should vote in, congress, city hall, state etc etc. You can not sit by and watch, this is not a spectator sport, you must stay involved and I know how tired you are, so am I---"Into the streets I say!"

War is failure, occupation a disgrace!
"Funding these wars is killing our troops"
* Why laughter?? Because without it I would have gone insane years ago.
Sen. ** harry reid must be replaced as Majority Leader, call me when you agree or just go away!
An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.
Thoreau may have also brooded over the reaction of Emerson, who criticized the imprisonment as pointless. According to some accounts, Emerson visited Thoreau in jail and asked, "Henry, what are you doing in there?" Thoreau replied, "Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?"
Molly Ivins, "It's like, duh. Just when you thought there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties, the Republicans go and prove you're wrong."
