Benefit Fundraiser for R.E.A.L. Prep Academy (formerly High School for Recording Arts), to open in fall, 2011
Portland State University, Hoffman Hall, 1833 S.W. 11th Avenue, Portland
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Cost: Free-will donation. (Suggested donation: $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for college-age and under)
This youth-oriented performance/fundraiser will feature spoken word poets, hip-hop artists, dancers, singers and visual artists who use art as a medium to promote social justice. Headlining up-and-coming hip-hop artist Burnell Washington out of Salt Lake City and emceed by award-winning rapper/social activist Jasiri X, this show is entirely planned, implemented and hosted by freshman students at Portland State University, many of whom are first-generation college students representing ethnic minorities.
100% of the profits raised (including ticket sales) will be donated to R.E.A.L. Prep Charter Academy.
