Portland, OR - The Portland Animal Defense League received an anonymous
communiqué regarding a permanent change to the pro-animal research
billboards sponsored by the Foundation for Biomedical Research (FBR) that
have recently spawned numerous Portland media stories.
The billboards that once offered a choice for life between a little girl
and a rat, now pose an ethical question of "who would rather live?,"
signifying the value of life itself regardless of species. This modified
billboard also links to the newly launched website Reseachkills.org, which
provides truthful information on the issue of animal research. It appears
to be a clever parody of the FBR's recently launched website
The FBR's campaign launched earlier this month, with these billboards set
to appear in Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago and Baltimore.
Portland qualified for the billboard campaign, says FBR spokeswoman Liz
Hodge, because it is among the "important cities for some of our
supporters" and because she says it's among the "hotbeds for animal rights
Apparently the "animal rights extremists" have struck again- once again
vocalizing Portland's notion of ethics and morality over profit and
