DOGS ABOUT TO BE KILLED AT COUNTY SHELTER UNLESS YOU CAN HELP THEM

The Multnomah County Animal Shelter is filled to over flowing, and a group of pit bulls will be killed soon unless you can help get them out. These are wonderful dogs. They really need a chance to live. Please go to the shelter and adopt or offer to foster one of these animals. Pit bulls are very social dogs who get very stressed out in shelters. They are famous for developing kennel stress, which is why at least one of these dogs is on the euth list. They are not doing well there because they need out.

Here is the information about each of these dogs.

Preston - *Urgent - we have 5 days to save this guy * He needs a pit bull savvy foster home or adopter. No cats and dog selective. Preston is athletic, HIGHLY trainable, food motivated and has a basic understanding of sit for a treat.

Bradley - He still has baby teeth but he is on the edge of 4-5 months and he currently weighs 36lbs. I think he is a super smart puppy with tons of potential and a great personality, but due to color and breed, I'm afraid he will sit at the shelter and be overlooked. He would be a GREAT foster candidate. More info on Bradley here:  http://www2.co.multnomah.or.us/AnimalWeb/Detail.aspx?id=359382

Burger ญญ- is a REALLY amazing boy and has been at the shelter for way too long! He is about 5 years of age, no cats, almost fully trained. He would be best as the only dog or in a home with a female dog. I think he could get along with a male dog that was respectful and dog savvy and with a careful and slow introduction. I love this boy a lot and it is killing me to see him going downhill at the shelter. More info on Burger here:  http://www2.co.multnomah.or.us/AnimalWeb/Detail.aspx?id=352116

Buddy - 1 years old, good with female dogs. NO cats. Another really great dog that is losing it while at the shelter. More info on Buddy here:  http://www2.co.multnomah.or.us/AnimalWeb/Detail.aspx?id=347394

PLEASE CONTACT:  stephanie.i.collingsworth@co.multnomah.or.us (Stephanie works with the dogs at the shelter and can give you more information or tell you how to adopt one of them.)

Preston is HIGHLY URGENT, meaning that he will be killed in 5 days unless someone saves him.

Please note that it is always the black dogs and the pit bulls who are the last to make it out alive. And among pit bulls, the blacks and the brindles have the hardest time being adopted. I don't know why.

Thank You 07.Oct.2010 11:38

It's clear how much you love these dogs. Thank you for caring. I've had about twenty years of shelter volunteer experience. It's tough to care, when there are so many to care about, . . . people, as well as animals.
