A protest rally and march weaved its way around NE Portland Lloyd Center district. The were demanding jobs and no cuts to Social Security (which over 650,000 Oregonians rely on). This was organized by Jobs With Justice and the event was on September 15 2010.
We Need Jobs
We Need Jobs
A protest march by Portland's Jobs With Justice through NE Portland streets with a rally in two different parks... In windy raining weather 75 people gathered in Portland demanded jobs and for Congress to keep their hands off our social security money. There was 1/2 dozen speakers, the "No War Drum Corps", and a semi truck from Teamsters 206 were present.

Union reps and workers, unemployed citizens, Oregon workers, Oregon Action & JWJ organizers, (and other) all spoke about economic justice and injustices that we are all experiencing.

Speeches are at the beginning and end of this video, {*the police are all throughout the video}

The police followed the group the whole way of the march and contacted them at the end.
It was a mellow *confrontation in the park but unnecessary ...in my opinion.
{* no permit}

The chants were for congress to listen to us (we the people) and to bring jobs back to Americans.

There is a write up by "Laurie from JWJ" and it is posted on their webpage which is here:
