Hello everyone,

Just got a phone call from Scott Pratt. Ideas:

Have a Taborspace employee there, it is their property, and protestors could be asked to leave by Taborspace, not KBOO.

Call the police in advance, prep them of the situation, be prepared to act if worse comes to worse.

A rent-a-cop doesn't have much authority, but does scare people into behaving, but do we want to scare people at all?

Bring video cameras to document individuals behavior.

There are other rooms in the church, we could have Mark Eklund count ballots away from the meeting. Have a couple of volunteers as "security" for Mark Eklund, no one's allowed near him.

If we are having any time for audience comments and feedback, then tell Papadopoulos he can sign up and talk about the bylaw petition, openly and with our blessing, in other words, deal him in.

Have a handout for everyone entering the building - welcome to the meeting, here's what's happening, as well that we have received a threat of a protest and that if individuals try to harass or disrupt the meeting we will halt proceedings and ask them to stop or leave, and will the attendees please be willing to observe or assist - in other words, have the audience police itself.

Louis has stated he would act to temporarily halt the meeting. Is he going to be available all the time? Or should whomever is speaking do so?

Chris

PPS: Michael Papadopoulos has made demand for the membership list. Under bylaws, he has five business days to pick it up. He e-mailed me Wednesday the 15th, we could have the list ready by Noon, Wednesday, the 22nd. That's five business days. Andrew Geller is out of the office this week, and we can't print a list on Thursday or Friday. We could ask him to come in on Saturday, as Papadopoulos wants the list at the Sunday meeting (which is not a business day). We also are required to have a copy of the list at the meeting under bylaws for any member to inspect (but not copy or remove) - this would NOT be the same list that Mark Eklund will be using.

If Andrew's reading e-mails, what would you like to do? Also, I still have the Glen Owen list from August 26, which he declined to accept, which is why I still have it. That could be the public copy on Sunday, or you could print one for MP and one for the public.

My expectations for the annual meeting:

As Scott Forester is not legally allowed on the premise, I would like for Chris to quietly have him removed if he should come in. He may stand on the sidewalk as long as he doesn't obstruct or harass anyone. If he comes in I will not recognize him to speak.

If anyone disrespects the meeting attendees I will ask them to desist, if they persist I will ask them to leave. If that doesn't work then again I would like for Chris to have them removed.

If the meeting is unduly disrupted I will call for a recess until order can be restored or until 3 PM. At 3PM we will proceed with the vote count. Interference with the vote count will not be tolerated.

I very sincerely hope none of the above is necessary. We should be able to have a meeting where anyone that wishes may have the opportunity to speak, and no one dominates the floor.

I assume the venue has an adequate Public Address system? If not I do.

I will not be home from mid afternoon today (Friday) until Sunday morning, and may not have access to the Internet. I will have my cell phone.

Subject: harassment call at Taborspace

I got a phone call from Heidi, coordinator at Taborspace. She got a 30-minute phone call from an anonymous caller (male) warning that KBOO was planning to arrest people at the Sunday meeting, call the cops, and make trouble for members trying to attend an open meeting. Scott Forrester anyone? Under our cease & desist order Scott cannot attend this meeting, he is the only one who would actually be trespassing. I am contacting Scott Pratt, to contact Daniel Stotter, to reminder Mr. Forrester that his attendance is illegal.

And meanwhile, the rumormill does have it that other petition signers intend to disrupt the meeting. Mr. papadopoulos just made demand for a Membership list for Sunday and will attend, Mark Eklund would like not to be harassed again when he is counting ballots.

Also, Taborspace is in a church, the room is large but with loud acoustics and frankly, anyone talking really loud will be able to disrupt anyone else speaking. Some strategizing is necessary.
