You may also mail your letter directly to President Obama at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20500.

DRAFT LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama,

As your administration reviews the No Child Left Behind Act, I urge you to block the portion of that Act that makes federal education funding dependent upon providing access to the military to school rosters for recruitment.

It is unconscionable to tie education dollars to access for military recruiters. Schools should not be regarded as holding pens for the war machine. As you yourself have said, our schools are to help our children move on to college and careers.

Our children go to school to learn. Military recruiters must be kept off school grounds and out of school buildings and should be banned from direct contact with anyone under the age of 17 for recruitment purposes.

You have the capacity and responsibility to put our nation on a new road that values education, peace and justice over military might and an indifference to the true potential of every teen. Please end military recruitment access through No Child Left Behind.

Sincerely,

(signature, address)
