90,000 military doc - now on-line by WikiLeaks

Today in the corporate media I heard of 90,000 classified military documents were posted on-line
Some 90,000 leaked U.S. military records posted on-line Sunday amount to a blow-by-blow account of six years of the Afghanistan war, including unreported incidents of Afghan civilian killings as well as covert operations against Taliban figures.

The online whistle-blower WikiLeaks posted the documents on its website Sunday. The New York Times, London's Guardian newspaper and the German weekly Der Spiegel were given early access to the documents.

The White House condemned the document disclosure, saying it "put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk."

The leaked records include detailed descriptions of raids carried out by a secretive U.S. special operations unit called Task Force 373 against what U.S. officials considered high-value insurgent and terrorist targets. Some of the raids resulted in unintended killings of Afghan civilians, according to the documentation.

Just do an internet search for more information and/or the documents

Summary

Please call Wyden, Blumenthal, Defazio, etc to demand Congress oversight of war crimes evidenced in these report. Only protection for "whistleblowers" from jail and/or assasignation is public support and demand to end the war and punish war criminals.

heroin surprise

"Kabul Prov/Kabul City Dist 10 Airport: 26 Apr07. ANP arrested (2) suspects with (1.4) kilograms of Heroin. The suspects were trying to fly to Canada."

"Helmand Prov/ Kajaki Dist/ Safyan Village: 12 Jul07. Government forces conducted a search operation. Results were (08) ACF KIA, (03) ACF and (12) others unknown affiliation arrested. Items seized are (05) AK-47s, (02) RPGs, (02) heavy machine guns, (60) RPG rounds, (01) hand gun, (1.35) Kgs opium and (1,150) Kgs of heroin. NFI"

AND MY FAVORITE:
"UPDATE 202110D*MAY2009 FOX 30 still holds bazaar in Marjeh, investigation ongoing. Sustained enemy contact from all directions. BDA: 3 x US MIL WIA (confirmed) - reported above, 18 x INS KIA (confirmed), UNK total number EKIA/EWIA. Have found approx 15,000 kilos of black tar heroin and functioning refinement labs to include 275 gallons of acidic anhydride and 15,000 kg ammonium chloride. 15,900 lbs poppy, 24,000 kg ammonium nitrate, much more. Search of OBJ is 50% complete."

Probably not a lot of folks around these parts that watch the evening news but there has been a proliferation, especially among local stations, of stories on heroin overdose and addiction skyrocketing not only in cities but in suburbs throughout America. The common explanation of this is always "cheap black tar heroin from Mexican drug cartels." Afghanistan is the number 1 producer of opium in the world and the market for the heroin produced there is clearly being expanded in the United States as evidenced by these leaks. Gen. Smedley Butler said "War is a Racket!" and the drug trade is just one of the many schemes that are carried out clandestinely in the fog of war.

Here is the link to wikileaks dedicated webpage for what is now being called the "Afghanistan War Diary". This may end up being as big a deal as "The Pentagon Papers". This needs to be disseminated and saved to as many locations as possible, before it gets "disappeared"!

Bradley Manning is charged with leaking the documents 26.Jul.2010 17:12

Joe Anybody

Thanks Granny M.

"Bradley Manning is the young man charged with leaking classified US military information - including the video of a US Army helicopter gunning down Iraqi civilians and Reuters journalists in Iraq in 2007 that was released to the world via the whistleblower website WikiLeaks as "Collateral Murder". Bradley is now held in isolation from the outside world, in military detention in Kuwait. Bradley, who reportedly felt un-supported in life, faces - for his alleged actions - up to 52 years imprisonment."

... shall set you free

Ok, what is wrong with that? Did he lie, or did he tell the truth? That's an important question!

I've long thought that telling the truth was a good thing -- I was taught that -- remember the cherry tree story from G. Washington? If Manning told the truth, or conveyed the truth, or portrayed the truth, so what. Good for him for being a truthteller.

It should be illegal to tell a lie. Especially to the media. Remembering the lies that Eisenhower told about Gary Powers? That was more harmful to the nation than has ever been admitted -- it turned me off completely to to the nationalist crap, and clued me into the imperialist noise that was going on at the time.

The only time a power structure needs to be afraid of the truth, is when it is based on lies.

Make it a crime to tell a lie. Make it a crime to tell a lie. The higher up you are when you lie, the more folks that would be affected by the lie, the larger the penalty!

A lie about where you were last night -- forget it.
A lie about lobbyests gaining favor -- that's getting serious.
A lie about cause for invading a soverign nation -- that's big time serious!

this list could go on forever...
