Marilyn was arrested in 1973 when working with the Black Liberation Army. Sentenced to 10 years, she absconded after serving four years while released on work furlough. Eight years later she arrested and convicted of conspiracy charges, including a "successful initiative to free Assata Shakur, a Black Panther now living in exile in Cuba. She was at that time sentenced to 80 years.
While this is wonderful news, it is tempered by the fact that Marilyn is fighting uterine cancer.
