Cops, Pigs, Murderers!
A Cascadia Convergence Network Communiqué
About fifty community members angered at the ongoing murders by Portland Police gathered at the SE 47th and Burnside police precinct. On Monday March 22 at Hoyt Arboretum, yet another person was killed by the Portland police. The killing comes in wake of the recent homicide of Aaron Campbell who was shot in back multiple times at his door step by officer Ronald Frashour on January 28 2010. The enraged dissenters sent a clear message that the recent swell of police violence in the city will not be tolerated any longer. Infuriated the community members blocked traffic as they marched and tossed newspaper receptacles and dumpsters in to the streets.
While several people were pepper sprayed by police during the march the bloc arrived at the precinct around 10pm. Chants of "cops, pigs, murderers" and "I am Aaron Campbell" (a play on the pig unions slogan of I am Humphreys
during their November 2009 march in defense of the of officer Christopher Humphreys who had just shot a 12 year old African American girl in the face with a lead-pellet bag and who was one of three officers who chased down and beat to death a schizophrenic man James Chasse in 2006.) were heard shouted at police. As the march progressed from Sumners Park, other outraged community members in the neighborhood inspired by our actions poured out of their homes to join in the dissent.
The resistance took to the streets and left some minor destruction in their path to the precinct. The cops nest of filth was guarded by dozens of their fellow assailants who set up a police barricade on the block. Some toting riot gear and high powered rifles the pigs showed full force in order to guard their doors so that the resistance didn't smash its way in demanding justice!
The Portland Police are among the most fascist, racist and violent police forces in the country. The institutionalized racism of the police force has its roots in colonial America were it was formed to capture runaway slaves in the south and suppress immigrant workers strikes in the New England area. In light of the recent execution of the African American man Aaron Campbell it is obvious that the Portland Police continue in the dark legacy racism in Portland. Racist Exclusion laws, supported by the KKK, outlawed black people from living in Oregon for decades in Oregon's early years. Obviously these laws were enforced by the police. Captain Krugman of Portland Police Force openly dons Nazi uniforms a clear sign that not a whole lot has changed in the mentality of the pigs since that time . According to "The shit list; Nazis and the Police in Portland Oregon"
"He told the Willamette Week ("The Cop Who Liked Nazis," WW February 11th, 2004), that he owns and wears Nazi-era German uniforms, built a memorial to dead World War II German soldiers on Rocky Butte, and was married near the site of Hitler's summer home, Berghof".
Although Kruger claims just to be a "history Geek" his personal history of violence and brutality against protesters and disdain for people of color and those with disability demonstrates the overall culture of racism, abuse and hate promoted and enacted out in the community by the police at large. From the murder of Kendra James by the PDX PD in 2003 to Aaron Campbell this year and the most recent death at the hands of these terrorists yesterday, its clear that our streets are being patrolled by a racist murdering gang who are armed to the teeth.
The pigs in Portland have gotten fat. They think people will continue to passively take their systematic assassinations with impunity. Official rates of police violence against people of color in Portland today are reaching the same ratios of those in the south during the sixties and the era of apartheid. Its obvious that the pigs have continued to serve the same old institution of white supremacy that they have always been loyal to.
I am Aaron Campbell!, I am James Chasse!, I am Kendra James!
Who will be next to have their lives taken at the hands of these ruthless executioners?
Little has changed and nothing ever will until we kick these butchers out of our streets!
The resistance lives and with its fires we bring justice to the assassins.
