Miguel d'Escoto's Last Address as President of the 63rd UN General Assembly

A new world is possible and a new economics is necessary. As prejudice and narcissism can be gradually overcome, the chains of profit worship, monopoly capital and empire building can bring hope and a new day for all people.
Attac Germany, part of the global justice network, makes available alternatives to "trickle-down or corporate beneficent" economics (cf. John Kenneth Galbraith's "horse-sparrow theory" where the horse must be fed so the sparrow can live). Maybe unregulated laissez faire capitalism ends up as generalized insecurity, military Keynesianism or "minority consumption" (cf. Robert Kurz).

The state has a social nature and isn't only a power and security state. If you care about something, don't leave it to financial speculators!

Knowledge maximization could replace profit maximization, market fundamentalism or economism. Long-term necessities could supplant short-term "practical necessities".

The mighty dollar is no longer so mighty! Globalization or Americanization is challenged and debunked by the Global South and the international civil society.
