FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Meatscience Inc. launches Babylon, a Network for Non-monetary Exchange

ANACORTES, Wash. - October 5, 2009 UTC - An experiment in modern barter, Meatscience has launched Babylon, letting users post their Goods, Skills, and Tools and initiate trade for anything they might want in their vicinity.

"Inspired by our local community, we wanted to see an exchange network, in someways similar to Etsy/Craigslist but without money, where I could directly trade my goods and skills for those of another member of my community" said Meatscience co-founder, Maxwell Citron.

With Babylon, users create an account with an initial assortment of the Goods, Skills, and Tools they can offer to the community. These Goods, Skills, and Tools can be expanded with a photo and descriptive text or left as simple tags.

After creating and populating his or her account, the user can browse within 100 miles of their entered location for potential exchanges. These show up on an integrated Google map following the search. Trades are then negotiated via email communication initiated within the Babylon network.

Key features of Babylon include:

Integrated Map: A Google map gives the most direct idea of where any Good, Skill, or Tool is located compared to the user's home-base.

User Profile: Unlike Craigslist, each user can make a permanent profile covering the Goods, Skills, and Tools they have available.

Elegant UI: Babylon has a clean, intuitive user interface encouraging convenient trade and easy documentation of Goods, Skills, and Tools.

Added Citron, "We are excited to offer this utility and hope users help expand and tailor the site during the initial launch"
