Red and Black Cafe Communique - October

Happy Autumn!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Red and Black Café Communique
9/30/09

Happy Autumn! Fall is here and October is looking to be a busy month. Please note that not ALL of our events are listed here. Check out our Myspace page for a complete listing! We're now booking for November, so if you have something in mind, e-mail us at:  redandblackbooking@riseup.net!

ART OPENING: URSULA MOFFITT // 10.2

This talented photographer will be displaying her work at the café for the month of October. During the opening you can check out her work, chit-chat with her, and listen to music compliments of a DJ.

MUSIC: BIAGIO BIONDOLILLO, LEE COREY OSWALD // 10.3

Biagio Biondolillo is a singer-songwriter, on tour from Washington. Come give him a warm welcome with local favorites Lee Corey Oswald. No cover, but bring a couple bucks for the touring artist.

MUSIC: SHICKY GNAROWITZ // 10.9

Shicky is back! This group used to play at the old space all the time and now they've reunited with us. You'll want to come to this show, because you will NOT be disappointed.

MUSIC: LOW TIDE DRIFTERS, FAST RATTLER // 10.10

Low Tide Drifters are an excellent band from Eugene, and most of their members are IWW members. Show some solidarity and dance around! Also playing will be Fast Rattler, featuring Utah Phillips' son. Woah.

BIRTHDAY BASH AT LIBERTY HALL!! // 10.15

Ok, we usually have big celebratory events at the café for obvious reasons, but because we can go later and be louder at Liberty Hall, we figured, why not? We're turning 9! Come celebrate with us. There will be music by Tansy & Tarweed, Slow Teeth, Disemballerina and more. There will also be beer and kombucha on tap, cake, schwag for sale, and complete and utter anarchy. Sound like fun? You know it does.

It's worth noting that we'll be closing the café early, probably around 7ish. Please keep that in mind.

QUEER CRAFT NIGHT // 10.20

Queer Movie Night is no more due to little attendance and projector issues. But Kernan is now hosting queer craft night! So bring your crafty projects that are unfinished, just beginning and everywhere in between. This will happen on the third Tuesday of every month.

REMINDERS: Every Wednesday is both WORKER WEDNESDAY (open-close) and SERVICE INDUSTRY NIGHT (7pm-close). Union members and paid staff at co-ops get $1 off pints and $3 off pitchers of beer. SIN discount is the same. On the last Wednesday of the month, the Portland Restaurant Workers Association (PRWA) will host SIN night, allowing workers to chit-chat about their jobs, and maybe even plug into the PRWA.

As was noted before, this is an incomplete list of our October events. Check out the rest on our Myspace page! Myspace.com/redandblackcafe

In solidarity,
