GOODBYE TO BOSSMAN, BELOVED RESCUED HORSE AT "OUT TO PASTURE" SANCTUARY

A friend of Bossman says goodbye and gives thanks to knowing him and the hard-working founders of this animal sanctuary.
Bossman, a rescued horse at "Out To Pasture" Sanctuary in Estacada, died today after being given the best care and love a horse could want. He lived to be nearly 30 years old. When he was purchased years ago at dog-food prices, his ribs were showing, hooves overgrown and an abuse survivor -- this beautiful horse protected himself by biting and kicking out at humans before finding the loving home at OTP. He's been spending his days lounging in the pasture with Singer, an ex-race horse. He had a terrific sense of humor and loved attention from good people. One day, some of us were at the sanctuary helping with chores, and I tried to get back to the main yard, not figuring out how the latch worked on the inner gate. Bossman was right behind me; he put his nose down on my hand, and raised his head back, mouth wide open, obviously laughing at my inability to unlock the gate! He then followed me everywhere, hoping to have a few more laughs as I fumbled through the chores. I'm so grateful to have known Bossman.

"Perhaps the time has finally arrived for us to sit down and 'take our place' at nature's table and share bread with the many animal nations already seated there for centuries without us. Perhaps the animals will forgive us our long absence and welcome us back. And perhaps they will rejoice that their lost brothers and sisters have at last returned to their souls' true home." - from Animals As Teachers & Healers by Susan Chernak McElroy

Thank you Out To Pasture for offering Bossman and all his family a True Home.

Can a picture be provided on this site of Bossman? He sounds like a truly amazing animal. Am certain he is galloping through greener pastures.
