Youth United!, a direct action youth power movement here in Portland, is hosting an assembly on Friday, August 28th, at Holladay Park. Holladay Park is across from the Lloyd Center Mall, and can be reached by the bus lines 8 or 70, and also by the blue or red MAX.
The purpose of this assembly is to have youth and people of all ages to speak truth about their experiences with gang, fascist, neo-nazi, and police violence. There has been a recent surge of violence in our community, and this assembly is a safe environment for us to discuss and find solutions for it.
We need to use our diversity and experiences to TEACH US and UNITE US as a community, NOT to separate us. Don't sit by and be quiet, let yourself be heard, we need every single last person to come forward and help us make a stand. WE WILL NOT LET OUR COMMUNITY CRUMBLE, WE WILL STOP THIS FLOW OF BLOOD AND HATE ON OUR STREETS, WE WILL REMIND THE POLICE THAT THEY ARE OUR PROTECTORS, AND WE WILL REFUSE TO ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE BRUTALIZED INTO BEING QUIET.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
9am- Coffee, press conference, Q & A, workshops and teach-ins
12pm- Lunch, and assemblies
5pm- Dinner and Self-determination rally
6pm- MARCH to occupy
The food and coffee will be free to all those who attend.
