Homeless Forum/Info update on Sit-Lie

An on-going forum dedicated to community dialogue on issues of homelessness/houselessness, including the controversial sit-lie topic, was the focus of a huge gathering tonight at the First Universitarian Church of downtown Portland, OR, in which several hundred homeless advocates, as well as members of the CAG - Civic Action Group, of Sisters of the Road Cafe, and Portland City Commissioners Amanda Fritz/Nick Fish, were present.
This is Martha Perez reporting live to you tonight from the Buchanan Reception Hall, where there is a huge audience present to listen to both Commissioner Amanda Fritz and Nick Fish speak on the epidemic homeless economic crisis facing Portland and/both surrounding areas. After both commissioners spoke, the audience divided up into smaller groups, and held a series of serious dialogue on opinions garnered with respect to the work of the SAFE - Safe Access For Everyone committee, as well as what participants felt were missing or needed to be included, on the issue of homelessness. Dozens of ideas were generated easily during the two hour meeting, and all participants were encouraged to write additional statements, ideas, or concerns, on blank pieces of paper collected by staff, at the conclusion of the session.

Commissioner Fritz encouraged everyone present to stay informed on an on-going basis and that her website/Nick Fish's site would contain an update/transcript of notes from tonight's meeting/follow-up on tonight's gathering. Stay tuned.

Reporting to you live from downtown Portland, this is Martha Perez, General Political Activist/Healthcare Researcher.
