Initially prompted by incidents of violence on an eastside transit stop 2 years ago, trimet has been evaluating changes to the downtown fare-free zone.
How their proposed changes are supposed to clear up non-downtown, non-fareless square violence is unclear, though their current stated motivation for the change is to create "more efficient bus operations" in the downtown core".
Trimet provides 2 opportunities for public feedback on Monday July 13th:
