Silent Vigil in Solidarity with Victims of Torture. 6.26.09 - City Hall

Silent Vigil in Solidarity with Victims of Torture.
This will be in front of City Hall, Friday June 26th,
4:30-6:30pm.
The following information I received from a Code Pink Newsletter

Dear partners in ending torture,

You're invited to j oin an Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon vigil to support victims of torture
This will be in front of City Hall, Friday June 26th, 4:30-6:30pm.

On the UN's International Day in Support of Victims of Torture we'll join in solidarity with those affected by torture around the world as we move to ensure that we never sponsor it again here. Come participate in a silent vigil commemorating the suffering many have undergone - particularly in US detention. We'll provide candles, ribbon pins, and signs for your witness, calling for investigation into and tighter legislation on our country's interrogation and detention practices. We'd like to extend a special invitation to anyone who has been personally affected by torture, in any form or place, to join us on Friday.

City Hall is located on SW 4th Ave, between Jefferson and Madison.

For more information, contact Sarah Goff at  sarahcgoff@gmail.com.

If you have a mailing list, bulletin, newsletter, or other group that you'll contact between now and the vigil, please include this invitation!

Or make an announcement at your congregation, committee meeting, etc.

And if this sounds like the most exciting event all month and you'd like to help out, let me know and I'll find something you can do to help make it a success!

Thanks for your support!
Peace,

Sarah Goff
